Hi, I thought I'd pass this on incase anyone else is in same boat, I needed a new tail tidy and was in a car spares shop and seen a T shaped bracket for a twin socket towbar electric with the round edges for £3.... I measured each end to bend for the indicators (it already had holes drilled) clamped it in a vice few taps with the rubber mallet both sides and a tail tidy is born all I then did was trim the top edge to length with my grinder drilled to mounting holes quick spray of black paint ( as the original paint cracked when hammered) and its on the bike if anyone wants any pics pm me your email and i'll send some just thought it with a mention cheers!!!

Excellent bit of ingenuity :)
Much prefer to see bits people made work in a way other than their primary function than to see someone bolt some R&G gubbins to their bike. :)

how do you light the number plate with a tail tidy?
in the pic theres an light mounted in the undertray ;)
On my last bike I simply mounted a tiny led unit at the top of the number plate, cost about £9 on ebay with 3 LEDs

Yep leebex that's the one and its really bright as well, a nice bright white led and bang on with the price a bargain I thought its a really good fit!!
Big fan of making things yourself or cheap fixes for a problem, does the plate etc wobble about much?

No I've only used 2 really small mouting screws and it seems pretty solid I suppose you could use more to hold it but it seems ok to me as the metal bracket isn't that weighty to start with and the smaller number plate helps!! But not to small mr policeman ;)
