If it got more cage drivers to change from their 4 wheeled behemoths, it would reduce road congestion in a swipe. They could still have their little fortress of solitude, with Radio 2 on, but only taking up half the road. Got rain protection, warm, no crash helmet.

Whats not to like?

Its just got to break all the prejudices that things like the Quasar and that BMW scooter couldn't break

its pretty cool ..got the hallmark of honda or BMW written all over it

That's pretty damn cool. If love to give that a go.

erm ... if it has gyros to keep it upright, how does it lean to go round corners ..?
and if it DOES lean, how do you countersteer it with a wheel ..?!
interesting ...........

thats cool, bet it would be fun in the snow and ice, i guess it would lean once over a certain speed and at a guess the steering would be electric controlled so counter steer would be worked out by an algorithm on the ECU wouldn't be that hard to implement with all the sensors that thing would have

One of the most common accidents for motorcyclists is falling while turning a corner.
How fantastically crassly ridiculous. 'Journalism', (I'm being generous), at it's typically hopeless modern level, demonstrating an utter incomprehension of the subject.

Yeah I'd have a bit of that

got the hallmark of honda or BMW written all over it

With no mirrors or indicators on it, I'd say BMW

(Before anyone not well enough equipped tries to get clever, yes, I know it's a prototype)

I don't think you'd need countersteering. Countersteering overcomes the gyroscopic forces of the wheels and off balances the bike. If you tilt a gyro itself, it'll exert a force on the object tilting it, in this case the car thingamabobthingjob. So I would imagine you turn the wheel, it tilts the gyro, the car leans over, and it turns the wheel accordingly.

Soooooo many things to go wrong though and plough your week plastic shelled car into a tractor.

If the gyros inside the vehicle could pivot over that would allow for controlled lean to corner.

In the diagrams the gyros show that's how It s working .
Has 2 in case one fails.

how will it cope on ice?

Stay upright but spin all over the place I would guess.

As apose to so many things to go wrong and plough through your nothing on a bike?

I particularly liked the bit about most motorcyclists crashing while going round corners. No mention of SMIDSY drivers and how this would cope with a ton and a half of Chelsea tractor pulling out of a side road.

Better impact resistance then a leather -kevler protected body.

Lets face it chaps its a step closer to the mental 200hp thing off akira. I would happily ride/drive one of those everyday and sell my car.

I just want one of those gyros fitted on a Ducati panigale.

I'd take great delight in rocking up to places and jumping off to hear everyone scream and rush to save the bike.

I think the topbox full of electronics would rather spoil the effect :D

The implementation might suck but you've got to admit the idea is genius.
