Well, I work from home a lot and usually have Iplayer streaming away in the background. More recently I've set up a second screen on my PC and have a window running live TV. (TVCAtchup.com if you want to do anything similar).

However as you may know daytime TV is garbage. Until that is I came across pretty much back-to-back Professionals, Minder and Sweeney!

I can't believe they used to actually put that out on the TV while I was growing up. It's brilliant. They have one story between them but so much gratuitous violence, sexism, anti-authorityism, in fact it's pretty much got everything we're not allowed to do these days. Fags are only put down to give a wrong'un a kicking or take a good swig of scotch before jumping into the car to chase something.

All baddies drive a Jag or one of the old bedford vans with the depressed looking front ends, Bodie and Doyle (either in an RS or a crapi) give moody looks while powersliding and talking into an old electric razor. All the women wear ill fitting jumpers and no bra, everyone is anglo-saxon white or decidedly shady. We should definitely get this lot back on TV to give the liberal minded wooly handbag brigade something to get their teeth into.

Bring back the 70's

[Edit] Just found the Fall Guy too. The $6,000,000 man drink driving while being pulled by bra-less tight jumper wearers. Quality!

ITV4 seems to be the channel that hit "Rewind" in about 1985. Quality non-PC programming. Got the original Batman now after a fall guy double bill. Holy inappropriate behaviour batman!

Batman in London. They have amazing accents and all the cars are American! If you have access, get yourself onto ITV4 +1 right now!

Commissioner "Yes Batman the police commissioner's office at Scotland yard is just like my office. They are the same the world over.

Now they are off to a finishing school. many bra-less tight jumper wearers!

Robin "Holy contributing to the delinquency of minors"

Lady pea-soup "Batman I really must take you up to see our perfect student Body"

Now Bat-girl's turned up in London. Phones the operator and asked to be put through to the office that registers temporary visitors. He's staying on Queen's Highway in Fog City.

Seems they are going to stop a robbery of mini-skirts from Barnaby street from a boat at the docks. However it's all a scam to distract from steeling the crown jewels..... This is too exciting ..... Robin "Holy rising hemlines Batman"

We now have some Irish hench-men. If the English accents scored 8/10 on the corny-o-meter, the Irish are about a 27

Oh no!. Boy wonder is strapped to the winch inside Tower bridge and a boat's coming!

Phew. The anti-mechanical bat-ray stopped the bridge mechanism.

Oh No. Robin saved but Bat Girl paralysed and in full bondage pose in the dungeon under the cricket pavilion and it's end of the episode. I don't see how Batman and Robin can possibly save her now.

Oh well. Professionals on next. Whose girlfriend will be held hostage/killed this week?

I find the Org a bad enough distraction when I'm working from home! If I started to have that sort of thing on in the background instead of The Arrow on DAB I'd get even less done!!

Good job I have a study I can shut myself away in, well away from the Sky box.

I tuned in once I gave up for the day. Watched a good episonde of The Professionals, a pretty rubbish episode of The Sweeney and gave up on a rubbish episode of Minder. The latter two were from somewhere close to the end of their days and the Minder episode didn't have Terry in it. They started running low on plot ideas and it all seemed made on the cheap - Dr Who by the end of the '70s was the same. A few not bad ones but a lot of it was missable.

If you can look past the clothes, hairstyles and the non-PC stuff, The Sweeney in the first two series particuarly was very well made with some great dialogue, action and acting esp. from John Thaw as well as a few well known and then up and coming actors/actresses appearing. As Sir Trev says the later series 3-4 episodes were a bit hit and miss.

I loved minder, I never missed one when they were on first time around, even liked the updated version with his nephew doing the 'minding' :)
