18,000 lumen would do nicely. If I win the euromillions tonight I'm getting one....
and maybe TWO for the bike ;)
Any other torch addicts on here?

How much does one of those supernova class eye destroyers cost then? :)

€1200 apparently, they have €600 worth of parts in them.
Lumens are like HP, you can never have enough :)

so how long does a full battery last. and has the bulb gone when you actually need to use it?

pshh mere details! ;)
I'm pretty sure its CREE stuff so the "bulb" shouldn't blow (doesn't mean it won't I agree) and the battery is likely 20 minutes, but I wouldn't care, I don't go out much but when I do go out I'd like to take the sun with me :D

Oooooooh! Trouser tent moment...
Dear Father Christmas.
This year, I want one of THOSE
Pete ;)
I'm sure there are some cyclists in my area that have those things bolted to their handlebars set on f***ing strobe ;)

We have some 100, 120 and 140 watt cree LED lamps for stand lighting.
They carry a warning similar to a laser regarding blindness.
They are very bright, but I'm not sure in lumens terms.

Those torches are 55W HID lights running off high capacity Li-ion batteries. If you 'need' that kind of light on your bike you might as well replace one of your headlights with a decent HID/projector installation (not the standard SV reflector).

Can't you nick one off the bottom of the helicopter when nobody's looking Pete?

On the description is says it is 24x XM-Ls?
I'm not convinced TBH, LEDs need to run cool-ish, they can't be allowed to cook like a hot wire bulb.
An XM-L can put out 900lm or so and will draw 10W or so. Efficiency no idea but that is an absolute shedload of heat to manage.
