View Full Version : Royal mail 1st class-absolute joke/illegal?
Doing secret Santa with family on Christmas day so ordered 3 items off ebay. Left it a little late so trawled through listings to find ones with royal mail 1st class available. Three times someone has sneaked a "sorry we missed you" through letterbox without a sound! Thought I'd caught him red handed yesterday, as I heard it drop onto laminate floor. Ran to door only to see him thrashing his car down the road. I ran to other side of road as it loops back toward me. I waved the card at him as he absolutely flew by pretending not to see me. Tried ringing the number all night from mid aft and could not get through! I heard about them doing this before but thought it was papers making it up. No wonder their profits are always down, I will avoid rather than choose them in future. Not even took to my local post office but main one in Halifax that has legendary parking problems. MERRY CHRISTMAS YOU ORANGE JACKETED HOLE! :(
no problems up here. in fact the opposite as the postie likes to chat :-)
postal van/couriers are no problem either.
must be a Yorkshire thing.

It's happened to me too (Bucks). And my parents (Norfolk).

They rang our doorbell this morning with a package for...... another house on our road. They can't even count!!
My postie just leaves stuff on the doorstep and signs it himself. Left a computer on there all afternoon once!

Remember for every bad posty there is a good one ... that wasn't given the job. :D
Not our regular posties, they work in a pair on foot and in a post office red combi corsa. This 'individual' was in a small blue skoda.

Had Parcel Farce not deliver a parcel to me despite me being in. This happened 2 days in a row with no card left. I only knew about it as I checked on-line to find out where it was. Then he happened to leave it at the 3rd nearest post office to me. How the hell was I meant to guess that? Ended up driving all over the place to go to the closer 2 first. Then when I complained to the local depot, I never received a call back. Absolute joke. City link for me from now on as I don't want my customers having to go through the same thing.

Where are you Whitty? I'm in 'fax and never had issues with them. I agree about the savage parking wars down at the depot, but ya know.. Go on a bike? ;)
Ripponden bud, just sold my road bike last week. Only got a racebike now. Argh!

Must be them weird folk in Ripponden :p
No problems on this side of the hill. Always service with a smile! Must be my excitement at getting shiny bike parts on the doorstep!
Must be an 'incomer' dizzy, usually would just leave stuff with my in-laws as they only live up the lane.

City link once came to my door with a parcel for me and asked if I would take it in as no. 2 was out. I told him that they where definitely in and pointed to my door number. He said well I thought 2 came after 1 so should be next door!! I had to explain the odd even thingy. Thick sod

We have lots of signed for stuff and the postman signs it and puts it through the letterbox and if it's big it goes in recycling box near front door. Russell our postie is great and we give him £10 at Christmas to get a beer as he saves us loads of trips to the sorting office.

I've had similar issues with Parcel Force leaving parcels with neighbours, but not leaving a card to let me know... but never had problems with Royal Mail themselves.
