Some tramp stole my brothers new spare wheel from his new transit van.
He cut the armoured cable holding the wheel up under the van, a friend told me his virgin work vans had all been stolen last week, we was in castleford at junction 32 near xscape . As we got back we noticed cable hanging from van, (cable holding wheel) guy came over and said he saw a guy suspicious round the van, he said he cudnt do anything because he was too old to probally get punched or sommat. But gave us a registration plate . My bro dunt want police involved cause they'll do jack ****e

I have/had a transport business for 40 years and the first thing we did with a new vehicle was remove the bright shiney new spare wheel and put a just legal one in its place. Nobody wants a 5hitty old spare wheel and tyre and any vehicles with an underslung spare be it car,van or truck are a target.

Sounds like someone is loading up for a trip to the scrappie, no ones going to be caught with 300 wheels in their shed for sale
Tell him to keep an eye on the scrappers locally.

DT, would that be a scabbie rusty thing that was plugged 300 times and just legal?

Had my Zafira spare nicked a few years ago, dead easy to do. Had a brand new tyre on it too.

Got a spare steel replacement, and looped a lock through it.

The tunc who I think nicked it moved away, i've not had anything nicked since, although the spare isn't a new tyre now

Spare wheel theft is nothing new, as said above either get a naff old one with a just legal tyre or buy one of these

A few years ago my brother had a nice corsa c top of the range . And he had his side skirts ripped off and was on ebay the next day, the guy would not meet my other brother(sam) he didnt want his address exposed, he knew that it was us that he stole them off and went cold, my bro was gutted and finally he got caught stealing a splitter of a bmw, my bro went to court and the guy had to pay £5 every week for 2 months :@, the side skirts cost £600 as an irmsher extra in a wierd green/blue colour . The police ar poop

Virgin van spare wheels aren't held on with a cable they're in a cage bolted from inside the van.

Fords.

I'm talking about ford transits.

Cage with a bolt that undoes from just inside the back door.

Used to have one myself before we moved to vivaros.

They have a cage that bolts outside with a locking wheel nut.

They're both underneath, it's just how the cage attaches to the bottom of the chassis.

A nice corsa? No such thing! ;-)

As for the wheel **** happens, get over it and learn from it.

Yeah, learn to park the back against a wall. Then it's harder to nick your ladders too.

One of my neighbours also has a van and a lot of the time we park the vans back to back

My spare van wheel is bolted to the side of the van in the back.

Purely for ease of replacing a flat tyre... Laying under the back of my old transit trying to get the stupid thing off on the side of the M3 with foreign lorries going past at 58mph isn't something I want to do again...
