Bit of a sad one tonight. We've made the decision that buzz needs an appointment at the vets on Monday so we're gonna give him the best weekend he can have :-) starting with his very own portion of fish cake, chips and mushy peas.

Thanks guys (meant collectively to include you too fenjer, in my book it's a unisex term). Gonna be tough but it is for the best, been bawling like a baby already, lord knows what Monday will be like heh :-)

He's a trooper, he's fought back after three strokes, taking control of his legs away from him but he's taught himself to walk again each time (just a little shakier each time but he's still awesome) he's lost his hearing, sight in one eye almost and his sense of smell leaves something to be desired but he's been happy in himself the whole time. Just starting to get a bit much for him now I think.

Will be taking lots of pictures so hope you won't mind indulging me for a couple of days.

Had a similar trip earlier in the year with one of our boxers, Rip Saffy...

S'funny how at times like this we tend to dwell on the sad times, make the most of this weekend and try to remember the good times, take heart from the knowledge they far outweigh the former.

Thinking of you matey.

Sorry to hear.
Is the worst part of being a pet owner, having to make that decision. But is of course the right choice.

I too have an old dog (13). The wife and were talking just the other week about her time coming.
Her rear hips are starting to fail so is going to get worse.
Hopefully it will be a while longer. She's still getting around 'fairly' well now.

All the best to the Brettus household this weekend.

Thanks again for all the wishes guys. Today was a big day for Buzz, his first visit to McDonald's :)

We had to wait out the rain a little when we arrived

thankfully despite it being manic we got a spot which backed onto a grassy area so he had his own picnic

(his depth perception is a little off, that was his 4th go at snapping at that :))

He didn't enjoy the car ride too much :driving: but he liked the result. :smt117:chef:\\:D/ Tomorrow he's having a shorter car ride, then a walk in the woods with a mini picnic (a dentastick or two for him), plus some other stuff which I'll likely post about tomorrow so I won't spoil it just yet :)

Yesterday I did a 300 mile round trip from Chelmsford to Edgbaston to watch my beloved Essex lose the forst semi final at T20 Finals day - the 4th time they managed to do that. Didn't stay on for the rest of the day as it was very gloomy. The only upside was a mate at Edgbaston gave me free tickets and parking so at least I wasn't £175 out of pocket.

The today lunch with the father in law for his birthday - I managed to set the fire alarm off in the restaurant with the cake I made him!

http://forums.sv650.org/picture.php?albumid=1107&pictureid=7202

Then this afternoon I took my nephews to see Disney Planes - the first ever cinema trip for James (the little blond one) - he loved it and I am definitely No. 1 Auntie today.

Wow there have been some impressive pictures today and yesterday. Yup I'm back once again to bring a tinge of sadness to the thread but I promise it's the last day I'll do it and it has been rather therapeutic being able to show people what a nice time we've given him so thank you for indulging me and my furry companion :)

Today started off with a hearty breakfast of toast corners and leftover cereal milk (his favourite) and then we went for a walk, it was slow progress but we made it the 1/2 mile or so to the view point and I managed to capture the image I'd so hoped to get:
http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5457/9538548429_e1199826a8_b.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/brettnet/9538548429/)
Buzz's Big Weekend (http://www.flickr.com/photos/brettnet/9538548429/) by Brettus - Brettnet.co.uk (http://www.flickr.com/people/brettnet/), on Flickr

I broke down when I saw it as it was just what I'd had in my head, I'm so glad it worked out but that also makes it that much more potent.

Whilst up there I got a few phone pictures but this was my favourite:
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7420/9541340870_85fe0c537a_c.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/97383585@N06/9541340870/)

From there we drove to Snugburys ice cream parlour, the queue was massive as it was such a nice day but we found a spot and I went and queued to get him a scoop of vanilla all for him.
http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5468/9538619717_16c9ac432d_c.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/97383585@N06/9538619717/)

He looked a little smug afterwards (not to mention he had a spoonful of my chocolate brownie ice cream)
http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5543/9541425402_03bc8f5e05_c.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/97383585@N06/9541425402/)

and then we walked down to the straw sculpture as posted earlier:
http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5549/9541274060_21ddc93cd0_c.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/97383585@N06/9541274060/)

He was too tired to walk back though so I gave him a firemans lift back to the car park (100 yards or so but was pretty good going when carrying a big baby :))

This evening we had a BBQ in his honour and Jen came by (Jon is unfortunately away travelling right now and has yet to be informed :() he had a goodly amount of meat just for himself. He still has a pork and apple burger set aside in the kitchen for supper/breakfast.

He's had a mega day and is now whacked, he's laying around on his memory foam beds and keeping an eye on us all as usual.

Tomorrow is going to be hard
- "The right thing and the easy thing are never the same."
but I have a plan: :drink::smt030:drunken:
Will work from home Tuesday and then hope no-one mentions anything to me on Wed, Thurs, Fri at work heh ;) then it is a long weekend so hopefully should be a bit more settled.

Phew, pretty heart wrenching stuff Brett, I've never had to go through this myself

But I can remember my Dad returning home with his favourite dog after that trip to the vets.

Anniversary??? or is Mr. LPH in the doghouse??? ;)

Nope - chocolates from a lady who came in to do photos yesterday - cricket isn't her usual sport but she fancied giving it a try so I sorted her a pass out.

And flowers from the Sky stats man. It was his father's 70th birthday last week and he was at a loss for what to get him so as his birthday fell on a match day here I arranged for a special £5 coin to be used for the toss, then had a photo taken of the toss and the coin returned to me. Sent Benedict the coin, the toss photo and a completed scorecard and he's got it all framed up as a really special one off gift for his Dad who loves it - so the flowers were a thank you.

Here's another from me taken yesterday afternoon but was busy last night. I delivered the Ashes Trophy to the Oval ready for it to be presented.

TBH I don't know. The sunset doesn't usually look like that.
Not sure if it is in fact the shadow of a mountain or just the clouds.

Tis' indeed a the shadow of a mountain then.
It's from a place called 'the Peaks of Otter', which is three mountain peaks grouped together.

Somewhat embarassingly, they have very typical American names.

The only two you can view from a distance are:
Sharp Top Mountain 3862 ft.
Flat Top Mountain 3994 ft.

(Hey Bubba, what ya thank we should name them there mountin's?)

The other peak is called Harkning Hill 3372 ft. which lies to the west of the other two but is not veiwable from a distance due to other mountains west of 'the Peaks'.

I'm guessing here but likely not named by the same person(s) that named the others.

Love the gif Richie, but it almost makes me dizzy if I look at it on my phone. LOL

Excellent trophy/stadium pic LPH.
If I were a cricket fan, I'd have that on the wall.
(but sorry the US knows nothing of cricket)

Something a little different at Lord's today, a visit from the Maasai Warriors cricket team. A documentary is being made about them - info here http://maasaicricketwarriors.com/ and it is being funded by people who support their cause - me included.

So we had them in the Long Room, on the outfield and viewing the ground from the dressing room balcony. And yes they are quite tall!

Sad day for me. An old friend died last week, who was a big bike fan. He had a fitting funeral in east London today. This was his hearse.http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/08/24/tupymu3u.jpg

Sad friendr me. An old friend died last week, who was a big bike fan. He had a fitting funeral in east London today. This was his hearse.

Sorry to hear about your friend.

Interestingly enough that hearse was being driven by (and is owned by) one of my old friends, Paul Sinclair of Motorcyclefunerals.com.
Small world sometimes, innit??

I never had a chance to talk to the owner/reverend, he gave a very good service though.

Typical farmer. I nearly rode into one last year, county lane and no lights in the dark. Normal rules don't apply to them.
