Yeah, it was kinda going through my mind as I saw them, hence me getting in the picture for once (I HATE pictures of myself) Gonna stash it in lots of storage places. That is the downfall with digital stuff, things are easier to lose somehow yet the reverse should be true.
I miss 'real' photos in albums i must have thousands of digital pictures on various storage media which never end up printed or seen by anyone other than me. Used to look forward to picking up my photos from boots etc just to see what they looked like or how they turned out, sigh.. i think im getting old maybe. I do miss photo albums that i can touch though.

Snap, thats why I invested in an airprint printer for home so I can (in theory) print more pictures and stash them in an album. In practice I haven't done nearly as many as I expected
I did have a photo book printed a year or so ago for my Nan, it turned out looking awesome, as if I'd been published. I'm going to do one for my Project 52 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/brettnet/sets/72157632455434260/) when it's complete I think.

I miss 'real' photos in albums...
We still have them. It's one of Lady Poppy's hobbies to print out the best of our pics and build up albums. We take notes (or snap the info boards) or buy guidebooks of the places we visit and she writes up index cards which go in amongst the pics. We have a six tank Epson printer which is only used for photos which, as long as you use genuine ink, gives excellent quality output.

Here's mine for today. Been for a 6 mile walk with the other half, loved it & saw some nice sights.
This is a little punk pony, love his blue rinse. :)

another from me, Now I have a sawn down 7.62 barrel that I use as a punch, and since I tried and failed to get a photo of the rifling I thought sod it and try and take a smoking gun sort of shot... after getting kicked out of the kitchen for making the smoke detector go off I went into the garage... it's quite tricky to light but I'm still not too happy with the result.... MUST TRY HARDER!!!
Smoking Gun.

after getting kicked out of the kitchen for making the smoke detector go off
The lengths you go to Richie :)
This is why I don't have the patience to set these shots up and then adapt them till they look right, I also don't have your vision :smt115 of how it should look. It makes me enjoy your shots that much more knowing I wouldn't get them.
I haven't contributed in what feels like a while but I've got to make some comments :)
Mav, really liking the seaside shapes, it's not all about the megapixels of course, your compositions are ace, the leading lines of the breakers is really interesting.
Mister C, loving the pony shot, the focus is amazing, was that with your super zoom lens?
Lew, those dogs look to be enjoying themselves, not so sure about the icy dingleberries though, bet they regret them soon enough :)
Banannaman: really liked the tobacco barns shot, looking forward to seeing more shots from your side of the pond after the thaw! Something about American roads is intrinsically different, more open, flowing and the yellow lines accentuate that it isn't Britain.
Geodude, you've given me an idea with your Daffs, stand by for an homage in the next week or two. (I'm not trying to build it up, just wanted you to have inspirational credit :))
LPH, Nice can! I'm assuming it sounds as awesome as it looks? :)
Hmm, theres an app idea, a sound clip captured a few seconds before/after the picture to give an immersive experience. Although, merging other sounds with the pictures could serve better, landscapes with a nature sound clip. (I realise you could do video but video hasn't got the same artistic qualities as photography in my eyes, kinda like shotgun vs sniper rifle, photography is more precision oriented than video seems)
Right, I'll stop waffling, hope I didn't leave anyone out

Its not about megapixel's Bret, just the limitations of the compact compared to my old film SLR's.
I like a viewfinder, which my Fuji digital camera's have, but they don't fit in my pocket
Cheers for the comments Bret :0)
I enjoy trying to set up the shot and get a great feeling if folk like them too ;)
Here's mine for today. I've been waiting for a sunny clear day to shoot the Sun, So with my new 75-300mm lens a tripod and a piece of white paper and 3 ND filters 8+4+2, with a aperture of 32 and a very fast speed and a little post production via photoshop I got this....
Very happy with it as I think I captured a solar flare at 5 oClock on the image. :0) or is it a mark on the filters / lens ???? :(

You do come out with some really nice shots Richie & it just goes to show that you can set something up at home with a little bit of imagination.
Brett. That was taken with my £12 28 - 200mm lens off Ebay, the focus is definitely getting there now, all I have to pray for when the bike racing season starts is that the sun is shining :p
Here's mine for today. Moved a gas bottle at work this morning & a Robin flew out :) We are going to be parents (I hope anyway) Just hope that we haven't scared her too much not to come back.

Yep, it's an 1908 corn planter designed to be pulled by a horse.
I find old industrial age gear driven machinery facinating.
This one is doing 3 (gear driven) things at the same time while functioning, all driven off the front wheel. Plus the groves in the front wheel determine the rate at which the seeds are dropped.
Almost comical to see all the bits spinning around at the same time doing this and that.
Bank holiday so Spent most of the day on the bike, got home about 4:00 PM and decided to ride the quadbike as well.

Sometime after this pic was taken deciced to venture around a pond on another farm across the road.
Was promptly run off by the new owners.
(or would have been had they been able to catch me)
Took off in the opposite direction until I was out of their view then headed back for home.

I'm glad you labelled the Angel Richie as I could not spot it! Have only seen it from the road so not used to seeing it from any other angle.
Got dragged (willingly) into that London this morning by Lady Poppy who wanted to see the Ice Age Art exhibition at the British Museum (you can tell we scored Elite in that BBC class test!). Not allowed to take snaps in the special exhibition space but got one in the Sutton Hoo section. Have seen this piece before about 15 years ago but for some reason now as it did then it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up when you see it face-to-face.

This is my one for yesterday - but was too late to post it.
The wallpaper in the background was created from photos I took of the spines of the Wisden Cricketers Almanack and it is the backdrop to the new Exhibition at Lord's.
This photo was taken by the Reuters snapper and the bloke in the photo is Wisden Cricketer of the Year, England Opening batsman Nick Compton. I'm just checking he hasn't let the six pack turn to jelly. I'd just like to point out that I do not just cuddle random cricketers, we've been friends for 10 years, and he's affectionately known as my bit of arm candy.

I'm fascinated by the sheer lack of protective gear on bikers in Florida.
Also noticed that sports bikes were very "scarce"; for every sports bike I saw, there were like 60 cruisers type bikes.

Are there many twisty roads there?
I drove from Orlando to Fort Myers and went through some roads I thought would suit a bike, but they weren't too twisty......more like sweeping A roads with nice bends.
There was an article in RiDE mag 2 months ago that was dedicated to riding in Florida.

Mine for yesterday - we got back too late to have the energy to upload them and I've been out most of today bagging some of the silly street names. F-I-L's 80th birthday celebrations down in Hampshire yesterday. I've spared you hundreds of shots of Lady Poppy's family you'll be glad to know!

Following on with Richie's coin theme. Anybody remember these from the Millenium?

Weren't they commemorative as opposed to general circulation? Have never had one or been offered one as change for instance.

Ah, my kind of museum
Sorry I haven't posted any recently, but we had a tragedy within my team last week, as a result my mind isn't really in the right place.

Managed to take one today. One of these plays football and the other plays cricket. Can you tell who they are though? (There's a clue on the leg of one of them).

Dawson and Broad, nice!...

They are both over 6'2 (Broad is about 6'6) so I stood on a bench. It's a common problem in my job being only 5'2.
