View Full Version : Rideout Friday/Saturday?
Rideout this Friday/Saturday
Theres a short break in the rain and milder temperatures (Milder, not mild) forecast
Whos up for going in a different direction to usual? I know Loomies is a (fairly) central meeting point for most of us but i feel there is territory west of Basingstoke that needs adopting into the Gm Super-state
Thoughts?
I'm a possible for Saturday morning and can sort a route of roads you've not been on yet. Unlike a Job-route you'll not need a passport/overnight bag or phrase book as I need to be back by early afternoon.
Maybe incorporate a Popham brunch.

Yeah, been West of Basingsstoke many times. Best roads beyond there is around the Salisbury area. Found a good road from Basingstoke to Andover, and think i know a good twisty road from Andover to Salisbury.

You need to ride through wherwell.
Towards Devizes is good too. Lets see what we get in the way of weather and attendees. May have to see if I can find the road I found with Fallout and Chucklebunny but maybe that should wait until after the AR as otherwise we may be short of markers.
Did my bike safe course in and around Devizes, bit of a treck but some mental roads

Have to do that again. Ad would love it, but I would much prefer a good week of tarmac baking to make sure it's completely dry. Too much going into corners airborne to be landing on wet tarmac!
Might be up for this sat. Don't think we have any plans.

If weather's decent and it's dry I'm in, haven't ridden for a god 3-4 months though so might be a little rusty ;)
West of Basingstoke sounds good, some decent roads between Andover and Salisbury and all around Salisbury plain really. Holiday Inn meet and head out towards andover?
^ yessssss
When i did my bikesafe in devizes there was some Amazing military plains with tank crossings ive just found on google mappage, ive just got to go back there :D

Back by 2-3ish I'm happy.
Just chucking this site out there, you've probably seen it before but just in case... http://www.bestbikingroads.com/motorcycle-roads/motorbike-rides-in-united-kingdom-/south-east-england-___268.html

Don't really agree with any of their road ratings on that map, let alone the choice of roads. Looks like they all prefer A roads to a good B road.

Their labelling system is too simple.

I can do most of the day, but back before dark. Saves me visor swapage and riding by candlelight, so 4pm latest (which I need to be back by anyway).
