Hi
I am fortunate enough to be going to Whistler this year for some snowboarding action

My question is has anyone here been before and where is the best places for dining, apres ski, where are the decent ski runs and entertainment for the missus

Thanks in advance
Jerry

BEWARE:-

Snowboarding in Canada prevents you ever enjoying snowboarding in Europe again!

I only spent a day in Whistler as I was based in Banff. It's all just so damn good it's really hard to go wrong. Make sure they know you're English and you'll get looked after by the locals.

I have been to Lake Louise before and Alaska so i know its better than Europe (only go to Finland now if its Europe)

Just seems the type of resort which is rather pricey! so don't want to hunt around for nice places to eat

Also the mountain looks MASSIVE and want to find the better runs and not waste too much time

I've been there a few times skiing/boarding but always stayed in Squamish which was between there and Vancouver. Theres a fair few places to go out in Whistler but at a price I'm lead to believe.
Check out the websites for Whistler as there are always events going on.
Have fun! :)

agreed, I went with the missus a few years back, boarding in whistler was the best ever! we stayed at the bottom of whistler mountain so we would travel to the top spend all day out then at the end of the say board down into our hotel, then have a jacuzzi :)

best time ever, we also rented a car and drove around to different places, very close to blackcomb mountain too.

we rented our board and gear but wish we had taken our own.

there are lots of local bars and places to visit near whistler mountain, and a bus ride away is a discount outlet place - highly recommend a visit.

bars plenty everywhere, up the mountain there are some at night, and some nights they have board shows and fireworks!

you'll love it!!!!

i can't say i've ever been to canada to ski, but have been to the usa (vail, colorado) and it was brilliant, however not so brilliant to make me not ever want to ski in europe again. but then i do kind of enjoy a bit elbow battling with frenchies! ;) it's also so expensive to get there etc. that going to europe is all that i can afford atm!

Whistler was awesome. I spent 10 days there several years ago and spent the whole time on Blackcome (sp?) mountain. The top is a glacier so can be skied all year round but in winter the powder was waist deep and perfect for wide turns. I hadn't boarded before, but had skateboarded for years, and was on the black runs by the end of the first day. The options for stringing runs together is almost endless. There is a good, but expensive, place near the top of the mountain for snacking and drinking but the street right at the bottom of the mountain had a lot of places to go to. We liked Merlins for their giant platter of nachos, washed down with a pitcher of beer.
You'll have a fantastic time. Shout if you need someone to help carry your bags :)
