For me, an old Southern softie old tart/fart the lack of ablusion facilities and effectively coffee buying opportunities, make this AR a slight problem for me.

However, the solution is easy, and I should hopefully be able to book such facilities quite close by. This does mean that the AR will not be free, but that is my choice.

This is the 'back to basics' AR that a lot of people wanted.

I'm looking forward to it immensely

Do we run a sweepstake on how long it takes LPH to mention underwear, nightwear or swimwear in a conversation not previously related to underwear, nightwear or swimwear during the AR weekend? On current form I give it 27 seconds :)

Just claim you've got Alzheimer's.

Yes you could. It's directly accross the crossroads

Which is exactly what we were aiming for, back to basics and free! Ok fair enough it wont suit everybody but when does anything suit everybody?

My opinion is that it's all about the people and the rideout (in that order), it will be as good as the attendees make it.

Glad you're looking forward to it Messie.

You all need to calm down, otherwise I'll stab you all with a banana. Fine for the first person, but the last person will get stabbed with a really squishy banana and will smell all bananary for the rest of the day. And the only thing worth than that is syphilis. I've had both. I know.

I like bananas.

That is all.

It really isn't that back to basics.

1. On friday evening we're at a pub serving food and drinks. Everything you need is there till 11ish including toilet facilities. Once that closes it's tinnies and a portaloo for the odd wee.

2. On saturday morning Loomies is open from 6am. They do coffee and cooked brekkies and have ladies and gents loo. If you're too cheap to buy these then that's your problem. Makes no sense to me when you factor in all the alcohol and petrol, but hey, if you're bothered by a £5 butty then fine. Basically everything you need is there to get fed, drinked and pooed, the only exception being a shower.

3. On sat evening see 1. Also loomies may be open late for butties or a different environment and possibly some special organised free entertainment.

Really the only issues are:
- No showers at all
- Only 1 loo between the hours of 11ish and 6am. These hours aren't known for being the core dumping hours for the human digestive system, so I can't see this being a big problem.

No definite times yet. the route is still being tweaked.

I would estimate 10-4. Something like that. finish time could vary considerably.

10-4 is what i'm aiming for. We rode the route the other day, 5 of us at our standard pace. We did it quicker than what you would do with 50 bikes or so, and in what would be worse conditions than summer.

Distance of the route is about 110 miles or so, with a good mix of roads, scenery and most of all fun!

Spank86

Fallout - you are male. That is all.

If we got a second portaloo it would still be a portaloo in a field, there'd just be another one on the off chance that someone was on the first one.

Personally I'm not sure it would really provide much of a benefit.

The lack of showers and the like of course is a bit different but we were unable to source those facilities in the region. Not anywhere that wants a horde of bikers turning up anyway.

I'm playing footy tonight but ill get my backside in gear to or row and scratch up the most obvious lodgings in the area and distances. I don't however intend to search through all the little B&B's since I'd only be doing that with web knowledge anyway.

In regards to the second toilet, it's been discussed and it's a no. There are of course costs that at the moment that are being taken into account by the GM members to keep the event free (free being the key). The additional toilet will incur considerably more cost to the organisers which at the moment no one feels the need to stump up for. AR has been tendered as a free event and the majority feeling is that we would like to uphold what has been tendered and keep the event free.

Fallout
05-02-13, 09:30 AM
And just to add to that, the only time the portaloo will be the only facility is between the hours of 11pm and 6am. In the morning your best bet is to swan across to Loomies for a coffee, some brekkie and use of their facilities. In the afternoon evening, the pub has all you need.

There's a cracking double-apex right-hander on Buttercup lane* which should ensure you return to the campsite with a suitably empty bladder anyway.

*GM - Buttercup lane is the rebranding of the road formerly known as something less savory with the hairpins at the start and fag-break at the end.

Fallout
05-02-13, 11:00 AM
I find when riding buttercup lane in reverse, so all the hairpins are on the down hill at the end, a recovery fag break in the Layby of Joy is desperately needed.
