Hi,

Does anyone know of a decent mechanic that can do a major service on a K8 SV650? I'm losing faith in my local dealer due to various reasons, and would like to go to a biker trusted person. My previous bike was serviced by Wybrows in Corringham, but I understand they have sold up.

Im in Thurrock, Essex

Cheers

Mark

Cheers for the names everyone. Not gonna shame them as they havent really done anything wrong (Not Johns, I went there originally to try the SV, got pretty good treatment there, despite being too late to test the bike) but I'm just getting mixed feelings about my dealer(ship). They are a Yamaha not Suzuki dealer so I feel a little unwanted there even though i bought the bike there.

Just looked up Stewarts motorcycles, worth going there just for the way they sell themselves on their website, but a bit out of my way.

Sniff - Dave is bang on my doorstep so to speak, so will probably end up there, cheers.

Who is Sid?

Have you tried chadwell motorcycles, 01375 842601 . I use them for my mot after being shafted by grays motorcycles. There are independent bike shop with garage services pretty much old school.

Pookie, well as you named, GM are the dealers i am referring too. I bought some gear from Chadwell's but didnt know if they were good as a workshop.

Not had any work done but seem to know their stuff when having a chat when I order parts through them. They are pretty old school in the sense the shop looks like arkwrights from open all hours. Give them a call and have a chat. They've always had time to cast an eye when I've asked.

Beware the entrance is round the back so its down a slope and round the back. No great for the wobbling vertically challenged :)

What needs doing on the bike?.. Still undecided about checking the valve clearances vs taking it to the shop on mine.

I am coming up to a major service interval, at about 15k at present on the clock. Im not mechanically minded to jump in and try it myself, but if baby stepped through one time, i'd be happy to try something after. I did a service on my 125 but became paranoid about every little noise after.

i wouldnt mind getting the bike checked over in any case, its my first twin, so I would want a pro's opinion that it sounds like it should.
