Which newspaper is that then? Oh sorry, it's not a newspaper, it's the Scum, much admired for it's truthful reporting, particularly in Liverpool.

This is worth reading. I understand it may be a bit leftie for some but the guy goes to the trouble of doing a few sums.

Oh, and she is working, as an actor.
Its splitting hairs to say she doesn't receive over £14k just because some of its paid directly to the local authority to cover her Council Tax. And to be able to pay out £14k she'd have to earn closer to £17k.
Someone on the minimum wage working a 40hr week would earn £12.9k. I guess doing nothing and picking up either £10k or £14k is quite attractive.
She's not at fault though, the system is a crock...

I believe this to be 100% accurate as much as the sun 's article.
What a lot of people haven't clocked is the credit card bill she is running up and paying the minimum payment, when she is knee deep in debt and can't get anymore money, she'll do one and leave it all behind.
Just because it's the sun, doesn't mean it's not happening, it's not the first case I've heard it will it be the last.

And we can blame Gordon Brown for the crock system, after all he invented housing benefit didnt he?Err no,its been around a lot longer than that.
Its interesting that the current lot keep saying they are going to stop the crock benefits system that allows people to be no better off working than staying on benefit, but three years into their regime they are struggling to make much headway. They are finding, just like the previous lot that it is vastly more complicated than the Scum or the Hate would have us believe. We shall see.

Housing benefit? That's just the tip of the iceberg, you can't deny it was labour that opened the floodgates to this country surely?

If you mean immigration it was in the EU rules and had little to do with Labour at the time.New countries joined and their people had EU rights. They did negotiate a temporary block on some new nations which is why their is an outcry now with that expiring.
We can play the historical blame game but it gets us nowhere. It was the Tories who took us into Europe,Labour who renegotiated that deal and held a referendum. Both have largely gone with it ever since.
As for non EU arrivals much the same story over 60 years.

Yep fraid BB is correct
The block on Romanian & Bulgarians comes to an end very soon too, so they'll have full EU rights to.
Most UK councils have not prepared for the sudden influx of new EU migrants, except one in London, but they are expecting an initial rush.
Of course we're quite within our rights to go and settle in these countries too and claim benefits

Yep, Mav your right. But we're generally better off staying in our country and benefits ect are so much better here. So why would we want to leave? Hence everyone moving here! I'd love to vote ukip or the likes, but can't be done with WW3 the British nazis

I'm not talking about legal migrants, im talking about illegal immigration, the eu didn't have anything to do with that.
Under labour they admitted the border agency couldn't cope so let loads through to relief the back log.
The NHS were actively recruiting philipinos and paying all the fees, rent etc and our own nurses were struggling, their whole time in government stinks, 2500 stealth taxes and people moan about the Tories trying to do something about the debt? Don't make me laugh.
It might be a taboo subject, but the influx of people, legal or not has done nothing but harm to this country, our infrastructure couldn't cope with the unnatural population growth, schools, roads, NHS all suffer.
So to have it rubbed in our faces by benefit claimants, stinks.
There is a reason why thousands of migrants are still in France trying to get over here and it's not for the weather.

Best thing the country can do is ditch the EU and stop sending our money out to recieve it back with a chunk missing. Restrict movement of people into the country.
Government have too many people coming in claiming money which they haven't paid into, people struggling who are here and the money in the country is restricted to people of age 40 and above. 42% of pensioners are rich. Money is incorrectly distributed in the country it's unreal.

Make your mind up.Are you talking about legal or illegal?
Firstly no one is defending illegals, but they hardly represent a large number compared to total immigration.
As for Philipino nurses what exactly is your problem?NHS hospitals scoured the world for nurses because they couldnt recruit enough here. These people came here to work, and do jobs that no one here wanted. And mostly they work bloody hard.Maybe you dont approve of Portuguese farm workers coming here to do field work that no Brit wants to do either?
Personally I respect those who get off their &rses and move halfway round the world do whatever the locals cant be bothered with.

I'm not criticising the workers, don't blame them, my point is, they cared more about recruiting overseas than financing uk staff to train.
Btw, some are hardworking not all, my wife works for the NHS, so I get to here what really goes on.

How on earth do you know that!
Even the Border Agency dont have a clue of the numbers.

Yep, I heard them say last year they 'thought' it could be as many as 370,000 unaccounted for, but even that they admitted was a guess, hardly an insignificant number.
Anyway, it's moving away from what I meant originally, the woman in the link was a legal migrant, I don't blame her for doing what she's doing (if true) I blame the system for allowing it.

But when you have all the poor eastern block countries coming into our country draining the funds we don't have shortly we will be stuffed. Prevention is always better than a cure. And on the work ethic, Lithuanians and Latvians have been recruited by Tesco and a General Manager of a warehouse has said it's a bad idea. Make what you will of that.

I'll be honest, the hardest working foreign people I've come across in my working life have been the Indians and the polish, everybody else have been so so.
I know it probably goes against my point I'm trying to get across, but I'd rather have an Indian or polish person work for me more than a lot of English tbh, based on a purely business prospective.
