Walked the mutt past one of our cars this morning to make sure it was still parked beside the, er, Park and had not been hit by anything. When it snows most of us leave our cars by the Park which is nice and level and at the bottom of the hill. Thankfully nobody had hit it but the rear offside tyre looked a bit odd. Went for a closer look and...

Dropped the mutt off and came back with the pump but it would not hold any pressure. Stopped stomping on the pump and -sssssssssssss-

Looked up and down the row of cars and found quite a few were in the same situation. My neighbour's Audi had two flats and the car next to hers had all four done.
Dilema time. Does my wife drive the car to work with the space saver spare on it in this rubbish weather or do we dig out the heavier car which is worse in the snow. Just hope I can get a mobile fitter to come out tomorrow as I don't fancy the trip to any of the tyre shops as they're all uphill from here!

Yes to hanging mate. Give me a shout if you need a hand.
Pieces of scum with nothing better to do than cause people hassle and money. I wouldn't hang them, that would cost the public money. Throw their body into a barrel of acid instead.

My brother and my parents neighbour, both got parking tickets for parking at the top of their very steep hill, when the snow kicked in. It is double yellows, but every year since
The houses were built 30 yrs ago they have to park there in snow.
Not one traffic warden has ever booked anyone, as its common knowledge the hill is treacherous in bad weather. Bloody jobsworth, pounced as soon as they got indoors!
Somebody with an axe to grind sir Trev!

That's my suspicion TIB. Vigilantes who get a nice buzz from dealing out what they think is justice.

It's not outside any houses. Not in anybody's way or anything. Yes it's on double yellows but nobody ever gets tickets on it and when the snow covers the yellows they are unenforcable (I think). Some **** with a knife decided to annoy people, simpe as that.
Everyone parks there when we get snow, same sitaution as Dizzy's bro. I am so ****ed off with the **** that did this you cannot imagine.

And yes - I am just a little bit under the influence right now. Jameson's and red wine are not a good combination when you're fed up and ready to deck some **** who wrecks your tyres for the sake of it.
You're my mate you are. I ****ing love you...
Your lucky it's only a knife
They carry guns round hear and the magistrates think that's ok

The person who did that to your car is an utter **** and that is being nice. It is mindless vandalism done just for the sake of it amusing some brain dead idiot with more teeth than brain cells. Justifiable anger there I think, I don't suppose it is worth taking this to the Rozzas, but if you had caught the little fecker in the act and had given him/her a damn good kicking I am sure they would not have minded too much.
Drive safe when you get it sorted and good luck.

They'd still nick you for it though.
And being a generally normal and presumably solvent person your fine would be large and no doubt paid.
Unlike if they caught the scrote, who would get some community service they wouldn't turn up for and a fine that would be collected at 1p a week from their dole money.

The PCSOs who came to note the details of the other cars in the line that were hit said they wanted to know about such things as it helped them assign resources to areas for max effect. Not too surprisingly I've seen a couple of them wandering the area today and a liveried Astra cruising about too.
Could not get one of the few mobile fitters to come out to me today as they are utterly swamped by idiots sliding off the road and wrecking their own tyres. None of the local big chains had my size Michelin in stock but Just Tyres got one in and saw me as soon asI got down there even though there were several cars outside already. Was nice to see the space saver go back in the boot - it felt really odd driving on it.

And the fun continues. Tiptoed across town at 7 this morning with -7 showing on the outside temp gauge. On to the Marlow bypass and *bong* *bong* *bong* the car goes mental at me. "Tyre Deflation Detected". Into a layby and with idiots flying past as though there was no ice around at all (!) I checked all round. Nothing obvious. Odd. Managed to reset the warning and gingerly carried on. Paranoia is horrible and I ended up following the trucks on the M4 at a steady 50mph convinced my wheels were about to fall off.
Have now checked the cold tyre pressures and all are spot on. Read the manual and it turns out I should have reset the warning sytem as I had a new tyre fitted... Never even knew the car had such a system! It measures rotational wheel speed via the ABS sensors and if one wheel turns faster than the rest it assumes the worst and *bong* *bong* *bong*. Can also be fooled by soft or slippery surfaces so I was doomed this morning.
Perhaps I can drive home in a slightly less "clenched" manner. How long till Spring?

Sounds like one of those silly systems Trev that is completely unnecessary if you just glance at your tyres each time you get in the car. Ahh well, it probably helps them sell, and if nothing else it gave your piles a good work out! :D Glad to see the cops actually made use of that info. That's refreshing.

Was that you parked in the top lay by in between 2 lorries
People were motoring down the 404 this morning like it was a drag race
Glad you have got it sorted now
Get a pair of snow socks for next lot of snow as i made it up into Downley no problems on Friday with them on

Glad to hear that NTEC - hope it's as warm here as I'll be *cough* 39 on Saturday.
Sandamn - yes I stopped in the first layby to see if I still had four wheels. And drag racing seems about the right description for the A404 some mornings, despite the ice. And Downley is but half a mile from my place beside Hughenden Park - small world. Give me a shout some time.
Si - the tyre warning system on the current Focus models is WAY better than the monitors fitted to the valve stems on some older Mondeos and other Fords. They disintegrate and seize up making the valves inopperable and have to be replaced. Not fit for purpose and not covered by warranty unless you ask customer services in the right way. My 06 Mondy does not have them, thankfully.
