Folks,

Refurbing front calipers for the first time today. I am just a bit confused. Following Haynes, the slider section should simply pull out from the main caliper body, allowing better access into the piston crevices. Mine don't. My slider section will not move, I don't want to bust anything by forcing, so thought I would ask here first

Cheers

Yep it just slides out.

If it's stuck solid you can pull back the rubber boots from the mounting/slider plate and squirt in a bit of silicon lube (or anything that won't damage the rubber). Then work the slider in and out until you can wiggle it free.

Yes they should slide in and out.If they dont move they need work, and the rubber bits will have to be replaced. They should be lubed with red rubber grease.Ordinary grease causes the rubber gaiters to perish and expand.Probably why yours no longer move.

They should slide out but if in taking them off they're slightly at an angle they can be tricky to pull apart, as others have said, a little lube and a wiggle should see them free, but try pressing them back in again as well.

Managed, a bit of brute force did the trick. Just realised it says caliber in subject of post, damned smart phone spell check. In anycase year rubber boot is requiring replacement. Wemoto here I come lol
