Pushed the bike up off the side stand, kicked it back and about to put into gear when a gust of wind hit me side on and pushed the bike and I over onto the right hand side... couldn't hold the bike up, so tried to lay the bike gently on its side. Didn't help much that my boots just slipped on the wet paving when I tried to plant my right foot down to push the bike back up again.
managed to get the bike up off the ground with some help with the shops security guard.
Obviously didn't manage to lay it down that gently cos the brake lever snapped off  Riding home thru' traffic with only back brakes was a challenge but tootled along at snails pace :)
laugh at leisure :) as someone looking on it must have looked comical :)
so... anyone got a thou brake lever knocking about?? :)

That sucks dude. Hope you get it all sorted soon. Maybe some sort of special aerodynamic suit would help in the current weather conditions!

Or use a bat-suit and fly to work instead?
No laughing matter! That wind nearly killed me today. Just happy I got home safely and glad you did. Broken lever is no biggie. Lesson learned much more valuable. Never underestimate Mother Nature, Mothers will kick your ass! ;)

Sorry to hear, but lucky if that's the only damage done.
Could have been much worse.
Glad you and the bike are relatively OK.
That sucks dude

Will the 650 levers fit the thou? If so I got a pair of blue levers knocking about if you can put up with blue levers

High wind on the bike is bloody scary, I went up to Northumberland last may for a sprint weekend, the m6 up there was the worst I'd rode in.
On the way back we passed police using the wind speed recorders, they were on the verge of closing the mway.
I'd dropped speed down to 40mph at this point as it was so bad.
Driving home in my transit connect yesterday on the mway, I thought I had a flat tyre at one point as the van was weaving so bad.

I overtook a car in gusty wind last year. Tried to get back into my lane and was leaning the bike quite far over and kept heading towards on coming traffic. Then the gust finally subsided after what seemed like ages and I flew back onto my side of the road. Definitely a brown moment. Mother nature is a tart.

I had some fun on way home last night, wind up over the tops was actually driving white horses off the ripples where the road was flooded. That's a new one for me! Was quite pretty :)

Trick is to grip with the knees more and relax the arms and hands. Deathgrip on the bars will exaggerate through the bike when it's windy.

M1 was bad coming back this evening.
The wind made the ride home tonight feel a bit daunting.
