Hi guys,

Ill try be quick to explain,

I bought a Bullet HD Pro camera from "lens.masters" on eBay last march. The ad stated it came with a years warranty (see below) http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/01/29/maqajy5u.jpg

However last week I went to charge it and it didn't work, have emailed the seller with no response, have rang eBay who were unhelpful "it's longer than 45 days we are not interested" sort of thing.

So rang PayPal they said the same thing.

He is still trading on eBay as he is receiving positive feedback all the time and they comment on how good his communication is!

What my ultimate question is, can any of you think of a way I can get hold of this seller to get him to honour the warranty he offered (and still offers) on the camera?

Thanks in advance!

George

If you bought from him amongst your ebay and paypal emails you should have an address for him?

Pay Pal through a credit card? I have no clue what the deal is its through paypal but if you buy stuff with ur credit card it can have protection ect. Its worth looking into if you can claim that way.

I have his postal address (or at least the one he lists as his contact on eBay). I'm just not sure what to do with it, it's not like I can go knock on his door and say "oi gimme a new camera!"

Buy another, "it's faulty on arrival", send him old one back and paypal dispute.

Possibly from another account and address.

he is registered as a business seller and you have an address - contact trading standards?

buy on ebay without being able to see an established, reputable and contactable business behind the auction and it's buyer beware

you might as well have bought it at a car boot sale

next time you buy something, see what the price saving is against buying on the high st, remember this and decide whether this problem would have been worth that price saving

at the moment you'd only save 20 quid

you could try the manufacturer, that's what you'd have to do if you'd bought it from Jessops

dunno if they'd accept an ebay auction as proof of age though

did you 'buy it now' or auction? if auction you might be stuffed with very little rights anyway

So it comes with a "warranty" but what does that warranty entail/cover? Do you have a copy of this warranty?

If you don't then there is surely nothing stopping the seller from stating that the warranty does not cover charging faults. Which'd then make it worthless for you.

I would try the manufacturer first they are often much quicker at dealing with things. I had a fault with my hitachi drill I never even contacted screwfix and hitachi collected it same day and had it fixed and back to me in 4 days. My Samsung tv broke 2 years out of warranty and I still got them to cough up 50% of the original retail cost. Good luck just keep hassling the seller if manufacturer won't help.

Now see the interesting thing is that the first unit I had generated the same fault after just a week or so and he replaced it no fuss within a few days. So I know the 'warranty' covers the fault. It's just the problem of contacting him.

Manu first as others have suggested.

Recorded Delivery letter to supplier second, requesting response in 10 days.

Trading Standards / Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline if no joy.

*Paypal/Credit Card - Credit Card providers have disputed whether protection extends to Paypal transactions so you might not be successful on first attempt. In any case, you'll need to prove the product is defective to obtain a remedy from the CC company. This is different from a warranty, which only grants an entitlement from the provider of the warranty.

** YC's idea is genius but dishonest ;) Consult with the Angel/Devil on your shoulder first.

Have you tried the phone number contained in the "business seller info" at the bottom of the sellers active listings?

If that doesn't work you should be able to request the sellers contact info using the advanced search funtion, you can only do this if you have had a transaction with the seller.
If that's not possible due to the length of time since the original transaction, place a bid on one of the sellers current auctions, request conrtact info, once recieved cancel bid.
The contact information registered with ebay should contain a landline number, I don't think you can register with ebay using a mobile number.

This info might not be correct, but it's got to be worth a go.
Sorry if things have changed since i've requested a seller contact number, it was a long time ago.

I tried it several times just keeps phoning a turned off phone. The additional seller info I requested just came back with the same information unfortunately. I will send him another message letting him know I'm contacting eBay/trading standards.. Hopefully he'll do the decent thing.

It's just the pain in the a$$ I don't need!
