View Full Version : Just went on my first ride!
So i have owned the bike for like 5 months or so but never had the licence, anyway passed the test 2 weeks ago and haven't had the money to get me on the bike. So sold my old bike and got insurance yesterday but still needs a front Tyre (long winded i know). So i was getting pretty edgy by now. So as today was a nice day i went for a cheeky little ride even though the bike was REALLY twitchy because of the front Tyre and i hadn't asked my dad if the bike was ready!
Anyway to the point, HOLY ****, Sv650's are AWESOME. Mines restricted to 33BHP but WOW!!! ( I have only ridden a 50cc before this but who cares )
I can honestly say that is the most fun i have had in 5 mins of riding ever!
Cant wait for the weekend so the bikes ready!

Congrat mate. It is awesome. You'll have plenty more exhilarating moments to come! :) The trick is to make sure it's not so exhilarating that you wrap yourself round a lamppost. :)
Really nice to see these posts with people enjoying their new purchases!
Good innit?

don't go too hard initially on a new front tyre! YOU MUST TAKE IT EASY ON NEW TYRES!
I know the mold release on the tyre is still there so for the first 50 odd miles i need to take it easy just to ease the tyre in. :D

Plus you need to get used to the difference in grip and handling.

As others have said enjoy but please be safe, its a massive jump from 50cc to 650cc and its not going to be the top speed that throws you off but the low down torque.
Just remember its not the speed that will kill you but the sudden stop.

It's a great bike (even though it's not a Curvy) and you'll have a great time on it. Be patient and build up the speed as you learn to love the extra power after your 'ped and for goodness sake keep away from some of the local bikers.

This must be one of the most exciting times of your biking life.....stepping of a L-plated 50cc onto a nice light, torque`y middle weight....my time was almost 30 years ago now but I can still remember it. BUT...just go steady and be careful .....things will happen much quicker now, you`ll catch cars much faster...and every one of those car drivers will be a knob-head out to knock you off....well, not really but think that way, ride defensively and take it easy. Enjoy
