I think you'd need more than four. Given the leniency of some sentencing recently I reckon you'll need at least 7 for a comfortable retirement. 14 if the judge takes into account Just Cause or Self Defense.

Exactly. If you were in nick and still had say a lot of dividend income or something you'd still have the same liabilities as anyone else.

Born into a reasonably comfortable family > grow up in a nice suburb or country side away from crime and poverty > educated at a private school or nice public school again away from poverty, crime ect > leave school to go do some bull**** degree and waste a bit of money > leave and enter politics > do your upmost to lie and brain wash people until you're elected as an MP > lie to your constituents and claim bull**** expenses > brainwash your way into party leader > lie your heart out to the public to get elected > once elected **** everybody in the ass who really need help all the while preaching about crime and poverty despite not knowing or experiencing any of it in your entire life > after you've ****ed everything up and destroyed people's lifes you can quit and either live off all the money you've made or slip into a nice cushy overpaid job.

My local MP and his ex wife are about to go up in court for being corrupt lying barstewards yet all I ever had drop through my letter box was leaflets telling me about how much of a top guy and general all round nice bloke he is

The GM manifesto should include a section on MP selection. Something along the lines of "no person may be considered as a candidate until they have completed x years of work in a profession unrelated to politics." Would introduce a lot reality and real-world experience.

The ex leader of Newcastle City council's chamber was a brilliant politician. He was one of the few liberals in councils that didn't back this government an its agenda (and was very vocal about it) and did to the point he was ousted for Labour at the last locals.

I agree with the sentiment about career politicians, that annoys me more than anything. The idea of having someone in charge of this country's treasury who has never run a company or has any real knowledge/experience outside of their economics degree frankly scares the cr@p out of me. A lot of the other problems seem to be much easier to deal with if the finances are ok (for example Canada 10 years ago vs Canada now).
