Trying to make sense of foreign ferry websites, looks as though it takes 2-3 days. Anyone ever done it? Is it good/bad/horrific?

Just a few comments my dad has made about riding on fuertaventura after him & me ma visited there years ago. Looks like fly & ride will be much more feasible.

Just booked a coupla weeks there for September. Will be looking to hire a decent bike for a week. Had a 650GS on Tenerife recently. Brilliant place to ride a bike. Tons of excellent twisty roads and great views.

Post up how you get on. Who from and what you got. The Fuenteventura bike hire sites don't appear to be very up to date!

Thats where my mummy lives! :)

Loverly place, roads are amazing - they never dig them up as all the services are in the verges to the sides so the black top is racetrack smooth... on the highways, go off track and you're fubar!

Fly over (loads of cheapy flights) and hire a bike, all sorts of hire places over there but be sure to arrange one where you allow for a period of time arguing with the hire shop. Not me personally but my aunt & uncle visited my mum last year and uncle T arranged a hire bike for himself... got a scooter took my mum coming down to argue in Spanish to get the berk to give him an actual motorbike.

Yeah been to fuerte about 3 times over the years, lovely place - caletta was tiny the first time we went in '97 but grew considerably by the time I was there last in 2006. Should be massive by now!

And yeah this guy who runs this firm is an english expat and I've explained wanting to ride proper bikes as a means of touring the island, not wanting scooters as a means of getting about for the sake of it - so he gets it. 60 euro's a day to hire everything including a lock, helmet, jacket and gloves. GS500's which should be a giggle as well :D
