Take the tick OUT of the 'install Chrome and Google toolbar' box, then press 'download now'
I cant take the tick out as I cant find it mate its just coming up with a help page there is no download now on it on my puta. Told you I was rubbish.
Right now im really confused I went onto the desktop Toshiba page thing not that new windows page and on that I can watch the vids but if I go thro the normal start up page you know that flappy window thing that's on the telly adds at the mo it doesn't play them arrrrrrrrrhhhhh
This is just pants right i have to got to the desc top press the google chrome that i just downloaded then search for the forum then i can see the vids if i just go straight thro the internet explorer that is installed with windows 8 they do not play.
If i make google chrome my default search thing i loose all the flappy tab things that me and the missus use for the puta sites how carp is that but i suspose at least i can see them just a lot of faffing about....
Don't know what a flappy tab thing is but I know anything Explorer can do so can Chrome, if not better.

You could try switching to desktop mode if you're in metro?

Chrome should have an option to import stuff from IE.

IE works a million times better in W8 than Chrome. Especially for video related stuff.
Fire up Explorer, set it in desktop mode then set as default and it seems to cope with pretty much anything you throw at it.
Videos work on chrome but not the IE I don't know how to import from one to another.
The flappy tab thing are on the start up screen on my puta IE being one of them when I open a new tab they appear at the bottom of the screen. Its no biggy at least if I see a vid that you guys have put up at least now I can see them lol
Ah I'm with you :) (Took me ages to work out was a "Puta" too). You can add Chrome to the "Tiles" on the start up screen, if this is what you mean. There is basically an edit screen that allows you to add and remove programs.
To add it, press the windows key for the tiles to appear. Then, right click to bring up the screen below the tiles with the option for "All Apps". Select it and scroll across until you find "Chrome" in the application list. Right click and select "Pin to Start". It should now appear in the tiles in Metro Mode. You can move tiles around by clicking and holding it, then moving it to your desired location.
For example I have three columns called Entertainment, Social and Productivity and I can move a tile from one to another or re-order the columns themselves by pressing the little minus at the bottom right of the screen.
Hope this helps.

As you know I'm running W8 and not only have I never needed to run IE for anything, but It would be interesting to know what video applications IE is better at than Chrome. For 90% of users they will see no difference (just preference). I'm in the 10% so this could be useful.
I was a big Chrome fan on XP but I've found desktop IE just works with less resources when showing video, and for that matter when just being a browser Run up task manager (ctrl+shift+esc) and compare when running full screen you tube or similar. Also things like catchupTV run about 4 x more intensively in chrome than in native W8.
I'm still getting to grips with some of the finer workings but overall my old desktop is running miles faster now. Excellent value for £25!

It makes sense really, w8 is new and was made to mesh with IE, chrome may need a little run up.
Thanks Mark. Will do a test to compare. On Vista, I ran Canary which was significantly faster than IE9 so felt no need to try IE in W8 really. Also, I know people using Chrome experienced crashing and slowing due to some of the extensions so I generally brose without them, which makes my Chrome work fine.
Ok, so just ran some tests and Chrome 23 is still coming out better for memory usage and efficiency but not start up speed (I use a Vaio with Centrino Dual Core chipset). There is a significant difference in performance (slower) with some extensions turned on (notifications, gaming etc). Also it seems Chrome has an inbuilt flash player so doesn't need a plug in, which is slightly slower for some vids but as Adobe has ceased support for flash and vids are now being encoded to HTML5, there's not much in it.
Definitely agree W8 is a bargain for £25.
