Enormous up vote for this - Fort Augustus and surrounding area is just utterly gorgeous. If any of you soft, southern shandy sniffers ;) are toying with finally making 'that trip up to see Scotland' this is your chance,
Do it, get it booked.
Also, having stayed there before, the hostel/lodge is really nice n clean too.
Great shout Deano - fair chance I'll be ruled out (small matter of ones honeymoon) but have a good un!
hmmm, really want to do scotland, but its 504 miles each way!

Gutted...... Gonna miss it :smt089.
Will be in Berlin that weekend at start of a Germany, Czechoslovakia and Austria summer road trip.
Suppose it's one less rolling road block to worry about ;).
Ooooh excited, also not been around that part all that much on my bike so bonus!
I'll be there, undoubtedly with my pillion attachment to moderately frighten!...

Hey, we're supposed to have weeks of bickering about that being too far north aren't we?
NO! Just free yourselves from the notion that Carlisle is "nearly there" and get up here! A sensational location.
Me and the Old Lady will be there or perish in the attempt. Anything I can do for you in the organising just let me know shipmate.
Tee hee - excited already :-)

Thanks for the text Deano, not on here much these days (dont you all worry, when it warms up and I need to repair the rust bucket that is the SV every other post will be from me!)
Hmmm...
I kinda of have another week planned in Scottishland August, so it would mean 2 trips to Scotland this year.
Let me make some calls, watch this space!
Dont worry Dean, even if I cant make the GM itself, you'll be cooking me dinner as I pass through on my tour :D

06-02-13, 05:12 PM
I shall be getting my Scottish jaunt planned tonight :D
So I'll be in the lodges as I'll be dammed if I'm carrying a tent (Possibly before too as I'm thinking Applecross and Skye as it would be rude not to)
Tam garlic tablets is what I'm going to try this year (see if its better than tab fog).

Been reliably informed this is the same weekend as the Rock Ness festival so might have to watch out for that traffic wise etc!...

I am going to contact the place tomorrow!
Only problem is some people have already booked, if they are able to change I will ask them to put us in on the weekend prior as they had agreed the either weekend was good for them...
I'm SO annoyed with myself for not even checking!
Dont beat yourself up about it, its not the kinna thing you check in that part of the world really!
Yeah the festival site is right on the loch on the East side so almost all traffic from Glasgow is likely to be going through Fort Augustus. I am easy to almost any dates anyways...

Right Folks as we are clashing with the fun that is Rockness I have emailed (and called) Highland Bunkhouse and asked if they are happy to have us on the weekend of Friday 31st May.
I haven't heard anything back so far but it was one of the weekends I had proposed to start off with.
I know a couple of you have already booked, but can anyone who has booked the original weekend contact me either by PM or text.
Can you let me know if you want your booking moved or just cancelled.
Once again Sorry for me not being able to organise a P!ss up in a brewery, but we'll get there and have a good weekend which ever one it is.
