Just got back from a outward bound course in the lake district as I had to do one as part of my Audi apprenticeship. Remind me to never ever do that again!
Jumping in freezing cold water and swimming back to shore blue in colour, climbing a mountain for 8 hours where it was 70mph winds, blizzard's of snow head on in your face and 10m visibility followed by getting stuck in a bloody cave gap because of being 6 ft 4.
Coming home to technology and realising how much I miss civilisation.
What a crap week!
so thats why you aren't replying to my messages!

Oh just the best! The only good thing was drooling over the roads and wishing I had the bike there!

Never try in ride properly in the lake in June or July. It not going to happen
Its where we put the Fat Americans and the Japanese Tourists, give us Yorkshire and Northumberland instead :D

i thought this would be a thread about coming out.... you know "coming.... out"
Sounds a bloody fantastic week - wish someone would pay for me to go!
As for riding in the lakes - seriously overrated. Just following cars and then nipping past one to follow a different car. Too busy to enjoy.
Come over the border and do Borders or D&G. Just as good roads and a lot quieter.

You have summed up english roads well though with those massive pot holes!

Sounds like something I had to do in 1980. Add canoeing across the path of a chain link ferry, being dumped somewhere with a tent and a stash of vesta curries and kendal mint cake and given 3 days to get back and it sounds similar.
Thats over 30 years ago and still makes me shudder, so you wont be forgetting it in a hurry.

I'm guessing this is the wrong place for people who like that sort of carry on then lol

It all sounds like fantastic fun to me, but then I have a very good friend who is a Freelance Mountain Leader up that way and managed to spend a winter season climbing with him. My first ever Ice Climb was in the lakes and I fecking loved it! Camping in five feet of snow, falling in snow melt filled rivers and climbing up peaks as fast as we dared so that we could bag as many of them as we could. :D

It sounds to me like you are just being ungrateful towards a fantastic emplyer who actually wants you to benefit from a great learning experience, going on adventures like that would be the perfect holiday for me! The wife however just looks at me in utter horror when I suggest it to her. She thinks I am a mentalist.

Ill do the next course for you.How much are you offering?
Horses for courses mate, i love a few weeks living in a hole in the ground miles away from technology. The only thing i genuinely miss is hot water but if it's summer you can still have that with a solar shower.
