View Full Version : Pope fired by God!

OK OK, he resigned, but that isn't nearly as fun to think of.
Why is the pope chosen by peers and not the people he represents?
Pope idol could make them LOADS of cash, admittedly they don't need it but since when has that stopped them?
Any sensible thoughts/discussion? I got nothin' as evidenced by this post but thought I'd get the ball rolling.

I thought this was the only "job for life" left really. Would resigning not be a bit of a slap in the face for God?
Technically, He's been dumped. Pope Benedict may face His firey wrath.

I preferred it when the news was reporting about snow again.

I wonder what sort of pension scheme he gets?

Not sure if he's forfeited his pension for pulling out early?

Aren't you getting his pension rights mixed up with his method of contraception?

Says he is 'too old' - he didn't even apply for the job until he was 78, should that not have been a consideration!?

If I pick up a "Sorry you're leaving" card at lunchtime will you all sign it? Don't think we need a collection as they do that on a Sunday anyway.

So answers to God? God is his line manager - where did he post the letter of resignation to?

Was about to say say that (in different words) well he was in charge in the US in the 1970's
Well I'm off over the vatican end of the month to put red smoke up the chimneys

I wondered (in my cynical mind) if it is him getting out before the investigations are launched or something. Seems a weak excuse "I'm too old" when as LPH says he didn't apply for it till late on.
I'd have had more respect if he'd have said "actually, I've had a better offer from the Hindu's, I think I could really make a difference there"

I guess there's no point him saying that he wants to spend more time with his family.

What a quitter. He quit the Hitler Youth and now he's quitting the church. What's he going to quit next? Smoking? QUITTER!

He was probably only ever going to be a seat filler until whoever they really wanted was ready...

Surely it's time they gave the job to a woman. Or someone gay. Preferably qualified to marry people. Do we know anyone who fits the bill?

He's not chosen by his peers. He's chosen by god who's will is merely made known through his peers.
Who incidentally were also chosen by god
Which rather begs the question of why the pope feels he can go against gods will really.
I guess whenever we get any trials and tribulations or ill health in our lives we can all give up too.

How about Justin bieber?
He's already got lots of adoring fans, it would bring a younger demographic to the church and best of all it would get him out of the music business.

Look up 'St Malachy's Prophecy'
or 'Prophecy of the popes'.
112th and Last pope predicted to be 'Peter the Roman' and Peter Turkson of Ghana is front runner at the moment!
