Hi lads,

Purchased an undertray there last night from "M and P". Plan to remove the 'shovel' and numer plate, indicators etc. Was thinking of doing away with the rear indicators and having a bracket to only hold the number plate. Seen on ebay you can buy a clear l.e.d type rear brake light that does away with the original. They're roughly 60 odd quid. Was just wondering if anyone has used them and how they got on? The light same doubles as your turning signals. Was lookin on youtube, but videos arent great. If someone has used this fitting, was there any problems at Mot centre. Also seen flush mounted, kinda sticky on repeaters, installed on rear fairings. Has anyone seen these? Just want the tail to look as tidy as it can be. Thanks in advance for reading and helping out as always, Ronnie

From what I remember these integrated rear lights are illegal and you'll fail the MOT

Plus no one will see you indicating, with these or the sticky on indicators.

Save you cash & buy some decent LED indicators which will look better than the OEM with you new tail, but will make sure those behind can see them

Hmmm. I have a rear brake light unit with integrated indicators on my thou. I remember reading somewhere that they were illegal but my bike has just had its MOT and passed without even an advisory.

Are they defo illegal then? Do we know for sure?

This tells us what regulations there are on indicators:

http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1989/1796/schedule/7/made

It says rear indicators on a bike need to be 400mm apart and visible from a distance. I guess if they aren't clearly visible you could get in trouble but apart from that there doesn't seem to be an issue.

I read up in the brake lights too and motorbikes only need one, so when one indicator is going, the other light strip will still be showing red.

I can't see any issues with them. Anyone?

Few good points raised - the seller says that they are 'e marked', but of course the buyer should check that they are road legal. Not too many of them being sold on ebay, which what raised my doubt in the first place. Would hate to spend the dough and do the work to be then failed an mot. Not a bad idea neither just buyin some decent lookin led repeaters like the man said perhaps? Just dont want the repeaters to take the look of my new tail tidy

I've got some Oxford Nano indicators, small, well made with integrated resistors and they are bright

With the integrated light, they won't be spaced 400mm apart

For some reason I was thinking 400mm was 4cm but its obviously 40cm! :stupid:

I had an integrated LED tail light with indicators on my Ducati Monster. They do tidy up the rear end nicely, however the indicators aren't the clearest in the world. Also they are very prone to vibration and the internal resistors can come off (I speak from experience). You may be better off buying a clear lense for your existing light and some LED indys. Just my two cents ;)

Oberon do some very tasty indicators. Bit pricy but they are CNC ally. Also they are double sided so giving extra visibility. If your replacing the front indicators as well they do bar end indicators.
