hi guys,
My speedo sensor recently packed up (rota smashed beyond repair)

bought a used one off a 06 - this read the speed x5 what it was.

Asked on here and was told a need an earlier one so a kind orger sold me one from a 03 - now this one doesnt read anything. (however from what i can make out from the broken one this does look like the correct part)

I thought it might be the wiring so put the 06 rota in the 03 wire pod thing and it read x5 again, so i know thats not the problem.

any help would be great as have tried fitting it 3 times with no joy, i cant see what im doing wrong it seems v striaght forward!! lol

cheers
tom

was it definately 5x the speed, like accurately dead on?
or was it 2x the speed and you are exaggerating?

Its important.

Erm 2bh it's prob x3 maybe. I went around the block and it said I was going 60mph and covered 1.4 miles (takes with the 06 one)

Ok, that isn't accurate enough.
You need a friend or a satnav etc and find out what the multiplier is EXACTLY.

If its as simple as 2x the speed, then just drop a 4 magnet sensor in your front wheel.

I've got an 01 curvy and put a pointy sensor in by accident when mine broke. It read exactly twice as much. Fastest sv ever tbh, 0-150 and beyond was really fast. Lol

Does your graphite sensor thing have a plastic back to it or is it all graphite?

The K3/4 speedo is a 4 pluse sensor (like on the curvys)
K5 onwards is a 8 pluse, the part don't interchange as it does exactly what has happened to you. Was it just the inner piece that was smashed up?
They're about £25 notes on Robinson Foundry or at a Suzuki parts dealer

The K3/4 are a different bike to the later pointys in a few ways (ECU, Motor, electrics to an extent, seats and subframes)
