The mortar on my garage ridge tiles has corroded away and it leaks a bit in the bad weather.
Is there something in a gun I can squeeze in, or is it best to mix up some new mortar and point it up like an amateur?
If so what ratio of what to what?

Thanks

They should come off really mate and reset.

Pointing or buttering them will only delay the inevitable, which is taking them off and resetting them.

Mortar, 4 parts soft building sand, 1 part cement, must add a plasticiser, or it cracks with the weather changing.

I'm not aware of any quick fix with them! The mix is generally 3:1 sand:cement with a good measure of waterproofer!
You an however get a 'dry ridge' system which is pretty easy to DIY, not sure of the cos though to be honest as working for a large building firm I never saw the prices! Give your local Aaron roofing/roof shop a call!

Should do them properly tbh My builder always says to look after the roof the most.

Had my house ridge tiles done last year as a precaution, we had a lot of issue with a persistant roof leak. Builder said chimney needed re pointing too, but I had limited brass.
Needless to say we had half the roof ripped up and repaired as it was the council bodging next doors roof that was causing all the leaks in ours. At their expense.

They just had to do the other half, as it stopped leaking in ours and carried on in theirs, and the chimney too.......result!!!!
Another winter and it might have collapsed :(

Thanks - what does resetting them mean?
They are all in a straight line, the house is 25 years old. The main roof doesnt leak and looks ok from the ground, just the attached garage.

Just been up there to take a look;

There is no mortar at all, the tiles are nailed onto what looks like a plastic tray

the only thing I can see is some damage

This is about where it drips in, so maybe some sideways rain can get past?

I'll perhaps have to take the tile off and have a proper look

That's the dry ridge system I mentioned! You can take them off to inspect it underneath!

They should be screwed in but yes, as long as its been installed correctly they should just lift off!

Yep, this.

I've not got much experience with the dry ridge stuff so not best to advise but should be a case of replacing any damaged parts.

Could always lay a length of lead or something under them or something worst case.

Lead if your a millionaire!! If its damaged your best bet would be to replace it! From the pic it's made by Redland who, from memory sell packs in 10m boxes! Not sure if you can buy spares!

Lol, yeah not the cheapest option ;)

One thing though, lead it and you'd never have to touch it again that's for sure :)
