As per the title really. Just toying around with shortening my snow plow, but can't figure out how to get the number plate light off? Can't seem to find any bolts or screws securing it.

should be 2 nuts on the back studs holding it to the mud guard

So to get at them I guess I have to remove the entire seat unit? :(

Nope, should be able to get at it from the rear wheel

Nope. There's a bolt for the reflector but nothing for the number plate light

I think a pic may help.
You might have a barstardised one. '

Have locked my damn keys in the shed so can't get at the bike at the moment (until I can find the spare key )

It looks totally standard back there. Very peculiar...

Just remember that when you've finished shortening things you still need a reflector and number plate light for your MoT. If you've removed them both you'll have to rig up replacements.

Good point. Thankfully it's not due until next February :)

I dont think you need a number plate light for the MOT although the police might take a closer look

Especially with a 9 x 3 number plate ;)

Here's some photos of what im seeing. For the life of me I can't see how to access the bolts holding the number plate light in. Also, how do I remove the plastic fairings around the seat. Have undone all ths bolts but they won't shift!

Nothing like a pointy snow plough. Errr Fack knows, can't see anywhere where you can unbolt it from.
Good luck

Very true. I'm going to leave it I think. Maybe this is the bike's way of telling me to leave it on there

Now to put it all back together...

Thanks for the link by the way Geodude. May use it when I have more patience!

Whao - only just seen this!

Unless I'm massively missing something, accessing the number plate light on a curvy is dead easy - did it myself last week. Two screws in the back of the lumpy thing that the light sits in - undo those and it comes apart. No need to lift pillion seat or anything else.

Just be careful if you're extracting the bulb as v easy to push it further in.

Yep you massively missing something ;) the two screws on the back of the lumpy thing will take off the cover to access the bulb but the unit is removed by taking off the bolts which attach it to the undertray from inside if that all makes sense :)

Ah - the perils of skim reading while having a cheeky look at the forum at work!
