Being pretty new to the area, I have no idea where to get tyres from for a decent price. I would normally buy online and fit them myself but since I've now got powder coated rims (don't want to risk scratching them) and no tyre change kit with me anymore, I need somewhere that do a ride in - ride out service.
So where do you guys reccommend. I'm probably going for some BT023's if that helps.
Cheers.

Ride In tyres in Reading

He'll order tyres, fit them on a loose wheel or ride in/ride out service, or fit tyres you bring in.

I shall give them a ring through the week. Thanks :)
I use Sandhurst Motorcycles as he uses us at work and i have got to know him quite well. Worth a ring to see a price as its a bit closer than reading. Have also used Ride In in reading to get my tyres fitted to loose wheels and was pretty quick.
+1 for ride-in at Reading. Bit of a bugger to find the first time though. And the bathroom facilities leave a little to be desired so go before you go.

Cheers lads. Now I'm struggling between conti road attacks or the bt023's. I think I'm siding with the conti's as I was very impressed with their supposedly budget conti motions.

Road Attacks, that's what i'm looking at getting as soon as the weather warms up a bit. Or PR2's, undecided yet/

There's also A force in Aldershot, I've only used them once but he seemed to know what he was doing

Just put on the new Michelin pilot power 3's that have replaced the power pure and their superb..
I like the maxxix supermaxx sport, about £130 for a pair, good in the wet and excellent in the dry, warm up super quick but also wear down super quick.

I'm tired of sports tyres. I love my Pilot Power RC2s but when you see them go from new to illegal in 6 months it's painful. I don't get why the centre compound isn't super hard. They're not track day tyres. Had the same problem with the Michellins (forget which type) I had on my SV. I'll be going sports touring next!
Only sport touring tyres I have had are Dunlop Roadsmart and I would rate them highly, it just so happens the bike I just got has them on! Bonus:)
As I don't do high mileage I can live with swapping a rear every 4k miles

Makes sense mate. I'd be the same if the rear lasted a year or 18 months, but just doing too many miles, none of which are sedate. What always bugs me is that with road riding the majority of your pinning it moments are in a straight line around our way. There's not many opportunities to safely have the bike over a lot and be winding on the throttle. So you end up with lovely just worn in tread on the outside and illegal tread in the middle. Such a waste!
I think they should make the centre out of something much more hard wearing. :smt062
I have the road smarts on the sv. Give good feedback and have worn very well. Will be getting another set to replace at the end of summer.

Mileage is pretty important for me as I do a 40 mile round trip commute each day. Hate it when the rear flat spots, its just such a waste of rubber. I ran a Dunlop qualifier at the start of last year and I only got about 3k miles out of it, and that was with a restrictor on the bike. The conti motions I'm about to change out have lasted over 8k but the front is nearly at the wear bars. Strangely, the rear has more tread left even though I've done a couple of thousand motorway miles, some if it two up. I am impressed by the grip they had though.

+1 for Sandhurst Motorcycles. I live in Camberley and they've given me good service. :)

You young man need to get out for a ride. Thought you'd hung up your boots!

Went for BLD in Camberley for closeness. A pair of conti road attack 2's fitted with the wheels on the bike for £275. Just got to grease up the headstock bearings now. One of the cam chains has become very noisy now though. Really could do with pulling this bike off the road for a month.
You could have saved a good chunk of money; http://www.nationalbiketyres.co.uk/pair-deals/continental-pair-deals/contiroad-attack-contiroad-attack-2-pair-deals/continental-conti-road-attack-2-120/60-zr17-55w-160/60-zr17-69w-/prod_543.html

The SV is my only mode of transport though I didn't fancy riding around with two tyres strapped to my back haha.
Just found a nail in my rear tyre! Not happy as it has a load of tread left(although a little squared off).
Do these ride in ride out places insure the wheels are aligned correctly, the chain tension is correct and the pressures are at least close manufacturerrecommended pressures?
Nail is in the very centre of the tyre and pressure is holding fine so would be happy to ride to Sandhurst or Camberley as it's only up the road.
Go see Mark at Ride-in Reading. He'll fix your puncture. If your wheels were aligned and your chain right when you went in it'll be the same when you ride out as he has no need to touch the adjusters.

If they won't do it have a look at Nick Robinsons just outside Reading (Next to the BP garage on the A33)

+1. Did the same after Mark's advice. That puncture repair saved me throwing away a brand new Power 2CT, and although the pressure started dropping a bit after a few months, a few PSI once a week and I've been able to make it good and worn. :)
