Hey guys, I'm planning ahead and wandering about what sort of bike i should get after my Beautiful Sv650s, I love and all but i will have to get a new bike one day! :D, Anyway i was thinking along the lines of a super sports / sports bike, I would Have about 2-3 years riding (if you can count the year on the ped). Dont worry too much about money, i just want to know about bikes i might not have thought of and might like and good recommendations from people more experienced than me!

Thanks guys

Depends, the only person who can really answer this is you.

What you'll no doubt get a little while, is a thread full of people recommending the bikes that they got after their SV...

Whatever is comfy and is up to the job for what you need. Hey you'll prob in the end just go for what looks the best or tickles your fancy. Try and get a few test rides.

Something light, any modern 600. R6/gsxr/kwaka/daytona!

Was in a bike shop today looking at all the new 600s and they're TINY! Make the sv look like a tourer.

Whilst I like the feel of the older gsxr 750s or zx7rs they're heavy which can make them less fun for slow stuff! Good bikes for faster stuff though..

Don’t want to spoil your dreams of buying a new bike. Going through recommendations from the org, but don’t forget about the insurance, it could cost you more than your new bike.

I got a brand new Ninja 600 after my SV. It was a mistake for me personally. IMO SS 600's are too fast for the road if you ride one properly (all the fun is at the top of the rev range remember). Looking back I should have just kept my tricked out SV and spent the rest of the cash on pints as the SV is a great road bike.

JB . the suspension and brakes stock are appreciably better on R6's Zx6 etc.
Yes they are fast but very Road worthy .

My k1 gixxer 750 was the perfect step up for me after 3 years on an SV. Twice the horse power, same weight (actually a few kilos lighter) and almost the same value as my old curvy, but more roomy and basically a nice place to be.

I'd recommend it to any SVers who feel they're starting to push their SV, want more power and prioritize thrills over anything else. It felt like a good step up to me. Enough extra power to make my trousers brown, but still composed enough to be easy to handle from day 1.

your best bet is to go test ride some bikes you like. Only then can you start to make decisions as to which one is right for you :-)

When i traded my SV in against the GSXR i test rode them all before hand, 600, 750 and 1000cc.

Good luck

I went from an SV to a Fireblade, although the Fireblade was way faster it also handled much better, had better brakes and was a lot more comfortable so you could also say it was more sensible.

If you cained it though it would bite you, which I later found out when I highsided.

A pre 2006 GSXR 600 would IMO be the best transition. They are a much better bike than the SV and not too much faster and less track focussed then the newer bikes.

This is true but the SV brakes will lift the rear wheel two up (don't ask how in know ;)) so there is plenty of brake to be had there. Mine had a nitron and emulators on it, set up for my weight too and beleive me this seriously closed the gap between the SV and the ninja. But yes I would agree they have better kit on as a starting point, but i'm not that good! So don't really need it. If I ever get another focussed fast thing it will be an RC8 or an SP2 as I much prefer the way a twin pulls to a 4.

A good bike can make up for a average rider.
Don't ask me how I know ;)

I was thinking a GSXR 750, maybe like a K4 model (as i like them). But As for insurance of course that will be a factor. I think closer to the time i shall go and test ride anything i can and just see what i like but, tbh i think i will get a GSXR 750 because im a big child!

Mind you NTECUK, i'm arguing for the sake of it here, because i still really have a soft spot for Gixxer 750's the ones with the tiny exhaust.

I got a GSXR because I'd always wanted one and I wasnt and never have been disappointed. IMHO K4 / K5 is the best looking and if you are tall like me you'll be glad of the extra space over a newer model.

With 2nd hand prices the way they are, IMHO its a hell of a lot of bike for not a huge amount of money.
