Hi All
Am looking at purchasing a new screen for my SVS, probably in light smoke. What are peoples opinions / experience regarding double bubble screens? Are they worth the extra or am I better off just buying a standard tinted screen? Will be doing some motorway miles but am a bit concerened that a double bubble may just deflect the wind directly into my face

For a curvy? A good DB like Fabbri works amazingly well, the poor ones don't do anything. My curvy was just loud at 90 with the wind going straight into your head, now it's fine.

I've not got my SV yet, but I test rode a CBR600f which had the factory option double bubble screen fitted. Honestly, at 70 miles per hour it felt like my head was in a washing machine, the buffeting from the screen hit me right in the helmet. Was much worse than the XJ6 naked that I'd learned on, at least that was just the smooth, though fast, air flow.

Saying that sitting on the SV it looked like the screen was much better positioned to direct the air over my head, rather than straight into it, so a double bubble screen may help. Ideally, try before you buy, else don't spend so much money that you won't want to just ebay the double bubble screen if it doesn't work out for you.

A decent lid makes wind a non issue.

I have a fabbri db on my pointy I think its great but I never had it with the standard so im not able to compare.

Mind you im 6,4 and can just about manage to get out the wind if I try hard enough lol.

I do have a right s**te lid tho will have to replace it when I have some spare dosh.

Looks like it's worth giving the double bubble a shot. Time for some ebay research I think...

I have just put a massive touring screen on my pointy today and im hoping it will work just as well as the windscreen on my ford mondeo, it's about the same size

Fabbri is the best, no question. I've tried all of them, powerbronze, MRA etc and the Fabbri wins hands down. There's s thread on here somewhere with photos in too.

I'm pleased with my Puig dark db screen. Made a noticable difference at speed and looks decent too.

Same here (Dark Puig DB) would rate it very highly worth looking at!

Not.

I find they push all the turbulence right into the middle of my visor, which makes my head wobble around. I am short, which I suspect is why find this.

How tall, (or otherwise), are you?

I also say NOT. It moved the turbulance from my chest up to helmet level so it was smoother with the standard screen. I'm 6ft with a Puig screen. If the original screen wasn't so chipped I would put it back.

Think I'm going to give a mid-price screen a go first to see how I get on with it. There's an Airblade double bubble screen on ebay for around £40. Would love a Fabri, but can't justify the cost of one at the moment! If I like the Airblade then maybe I'll upgrade further down the line.

Yo Winder, can you kindly share your experience and pics as well.
I don't mind installing a gigantic screen if it will keep the wind at bay.

Hey Pricey12, it's best you research that screen before you purchase it so you don't end up having a pricey experience :-)
I bought a ZeroGravity screen but had to put the stock screen back. I'm now looking to buy the Fabbri for my Curvy.

I've narrowed it down to these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dark-Tint-Double-Bubble-Screen-Suzuki-SV650S-1999-2002-/170973472809?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item27ced02829

and

Or they have Powerbronze screens for around £50

Can't really justify spending any more than that on a piece of perspex...

Zero Gravity light tint screen, was £75 but i sold off loads of curvy crap to buy it so was an easier pill to swallow. It looked HUGE compared to the original but now i have the bandit mirrors on it all flows a bit better. Haven't ridden it yet, still a few little jobs to do.

Could you kindly let us know how it looks and feels once you've fixed it on your bike?
Thanks.

Cool, same one I got for my Curvy for cost £79.

Yep, it's huge compared to stock and I didn't mind, but took it off because I didn't like how it pushed the wind to my head on the motorway.

The airflow might be slightly different on a Pointy, so let's see how it performs when you take it for a spin.

I'll give it a good squirt up the M3 when it's ready for the road. Here's hoping it deflects the wind over my head rather than into it, how tall are you Skybaba and did/do you have clip ons or flat bars on your curvy?
Cheers

I'm just shy of 6ft at 5ft 11.4inches :-)

My bike has the standard clipons.

not the case i think, just because a lid is quiet doesn't make it 'decent'! to stop wind noise noise you ideally want some customised ear plugs (worth their weight in gold, imo).

but anyway, i have a DB on my curvy am about 5' 10, with standard clip ons n massively jacked up rear sets and i find it to be fine. i think most of them depend on how tall you are etc.

Mat eif you can't afford a good DB screen then save until you can. I read a load of info on here, and these good people know their stuff, and if you go for a crap one then you'll be paying good money for nothing at all. As said above, a lighter lid does help, but really you should just wait till you try the bike and save a few more quid, better than just chucking it away.

Well, I finally ordered a dark tint screen off ebay. It seems you definately get what you pay for. The sceen was advertised as a double bubble and it isn't any bigger than standard. Also the fit is poor. It took two people to fit it - one to hold/bend into place and the other to tighten the screws. Moral of the story - if you pay £19.99 don't expect it to be any good. Still, it looks nice

Lol, good attitude ;-)

Have you had a chance to test it yet?

Not yet as bike is off road with electrical gremlins. Hopefully this weekend though. Will let you know if it's any good.

Well, I've finally been out on the bike with the screen fitted. It looks nice in dark tint, however it ain't no double bubble. Comparing it to the stock screen the profile is pretty much identical, so I have a feeling Racescreens sent me a standard size tinted screen by mistake. Can't really be bothered sending it back as it was pretty cheap

How was the wind deflection compared to the stock screen?

Pretty similar really. Unless you crouch a bit at motorway speeds it still hits you around the chest area.
