peugeot cd player code tech advice

Anyone know if the cd multiplayer in Peugeots are vin coded. I dont have the code card but was told it is coded to the cars vin. Battery is getting tired and likely to need replacing. If i disconnect it the battery will the unit automatically work when reconnected or will i need to key on a code? Have only had car 4 years but not got round to getting new card!!! Its a 2006 model.

Check in the manual and service book. Most garages write the radio code in there when the car is sold, it is often on a sticker inside the front cover. If not, Peugeot should be able to tell you the code if you ask nicely.
To avoid losing the code when you change the battery you can buy a gadget that plugs into the cigarette lighter or obd socket. This supplies a small current, enough to keep codes etc. Or make your own, a PP3 9v battery is enough, couple that with a some wire and clips and bobs your uncle.
