Hi Newbie Here,
I'm currently still riding my first ever bike GS500 after doing my DAS a few years ago. Its been a while now so I've been looking for something else and I really like the idea of an SV650 which is how I ended up here

I really like the faired versions (not very keen on naked bikes) I just can't decided if I prefer the curvy or the pointy but most importantly it will have to be blue!

I like to do all servicing and maintenance of my bike which is why I like to join a forum to be able to ask questions with out having to go to a garage, so once find the right SV for me I'm sure I'll be posting a few questions.

Ian

Or, if you fancy something better looking and just better, Curvy!

Hello welcome to the forum.

Oh boy have you walked in and rattled the hornets nest. We're going to have months of arguments about whether the new or old version of the bike is best...

For my tuppence worth I have always found things that have curves (http://www.wagoosh.ca/images/uploads/gallery/108/kelly-brook15099.jpg) to be more attractive, be it cars (http://top-100-cars.com/images/2007-aston-martin-dbs-large-1.jpeg), women and in this case motorbikes (http://www.globalsuzuki.com/motorcycle/history/products/img/1999_sv650s_l.jpg)...

Anyway stay safe and enjoy this place :)

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

The Curvy existed for about four years, the Pointy has been with us for ten years and counting, (in 'S' form, the Gladius having replaced the naked a couple of years ago). The SV sold well from the outset, but clearly altogether there are more Pointies than Curvies and obviously natural wastage claims older bikes earlier so the majority of SVs are Pointies now. They're both excellent bikes, and in reality they're very similar to own and ride, buy the best one you can find for the money you want to spend, regardless of which exact bike it is.
HTH.

Hi mate,
I think the answer your looking for is a pointy and it should be black as everyone knows they are by far the fastest.

Pointy!
The only reason you buy a curvy is if you couldn't get hold of a pointy quick enough... true story!

In reality, pointy is far more reliable!
Check out the "my bike is fubar" threads, 80% curvy's not nearly as many issues with the pointy.

Thanks for all the welcomes!

My apologies for touching the curvy pointy nerve, I didn't realise it was such an issue. I will in due course make my mind up on which is best and voice my opinion ;)

read what sid squid said, tis good advice that! if you do go for a curvy (which i have and love), then don't get one in yellow, getting second hand fairings is like trying to find rocking horse sh*t. i've been looking for some for years now! :( if you do go for a curvy, which you should as they're cheaper and owned by real men ;) make sure you get one that's an 02/52 plate as you get a little bit of adjustment in the frot forks suspension.

Hello, welcome to the forum.

What ever you buy, make sure it is well looked after. If you can find one owned by one careful little old lady rider, snap it up! :D
