Ok, so we all know insurance is a bit silly, but I contacted bikesure(current insurers) as I wanted to know how much more it would be to swap the sv for a street triple. No mods, garaged, 2 years NCB. Anyone fancy guessing what my premium would be and the excess?? Nearest guess will get a cuppa at the next Rideout. Let the stupidness commence!

1 million pounds. Didn't you know that Bikesure are owned by a large herd of deer who live in Hampshire and Surrey.

I reckon about £1750 with a £750 excess.

I'd suggest price comparisoning it. Bet bikesure are giving you a silly quote because they know you're mid contract and a captive audience.

When I looked up insurance of various bikes about a month ago the street triple was only slightly more than the SV, think I was quoted something like 250 to renew the SV and like 300 for a street trip (both TPFT), so defo shouldn't be that much, have a look on go compare or similar

Tomor

Did a go compare and it was £1500, BTW I prefer the newer style the older round style headlights so it has to be 2011 or newer :( I know its a bit picky but oh well. Will just shelve the plan. Also was fully comp as I don't want to go TPFT on a 5k bike!

Just did a compare the market... £864! but only TPFT :(

My insurance last year-£430 TPFT, no NCB. This year 1 years NCB £247 TPFT £430 FC :D

Yeh that'll probably be why then mate the one I did was like 07 reg ish. Also a little tip for compare the market, if you put the insurance start date as far forward as possible it drops by a fair amount, works out at about £150 cheaper for me.

Got some bloody nice quotes this year actually, £250 for SV, £260 for a CBR600F, £280 for an R6 and same for a ZX6R. Or £190 for a thunderace!? Logical :D

Theft is the biggest part of the premium, me thinks, since bikes are so nickable. That's why my gixxer is only £220 with 0 NCB and the Tiger is £500. That's almost exactly proportional to value.

Just paid for a joint policy for the K8 SV and a 2010 F650GS. Including legal cover, cover for commuting, pillon and the panniers with £150 excess... £196. Fully comp. Sometimes being an old lady has its advantages.

I had it in writing that my premium wouldn't auto renew and yet they took the money anyway after already buying with someone else. They caused all sorts of cash flow problems and even had the balls to try and take even more money and then send me a letter threatening to black list me because I asked the bank to block all transactions with them. Eventually after weeks I managed to get them to accept that they had been illegal taking money with numerous letters and copies of stuff ect but they wouldn't refund me unless I provided proof I had taken out insurance elsewhere (why?!). I refused to provide proof (I could but I felt it was irrelevant) and informed them I was forwarding everything to the ombudsman and bam I got my money back, phone call costs, postage costs and bank charges. I even had that member paws send me a ****ty PM raving at me as she worked for them so I let mce have a copy of that also
