one piece are a pain for summer road riding.
Whenever you stop you are sweating like a paedophile in mother care and cannot take off the top. Going to the bog is problematic if you got to near on strip. Stick a two piece unless you are tracking
For long summer rides? I agree with above. You certainly don't want it for long winter rides. But the same reasons apply. If you're doing trackdays, yes. For anything else (unless you get an oversize 1 piece) you'll be forever squirming in and out of it just to go for a whiz. Ok, some have zips that go far enough down that you have easy access (assuming you will wear a baselayer allowing equally easy access). But a one piece is generally not made for comfort so its definitely a compromise there.
If you're not a standard size then its best to have one made to measure if spending a lot of money. Otherwise the best thing to do is to actually visit outlets/motorcycle shops and try on as many as possible for fit and features. Then look online for distributers and manufacturers who can supply cheaper than the ridiculous shop prices.
Otherwise there's second hand. So Ebay? Preloved? Gumtree (:smt102)?

+1 I have just changed from a 1piece to a two piece for ALL of the reasons above, I only did one track day, ad for everything else they were a full on pain in the ass!! For long rides/weekends away I use my two piece textile touring suit rather than my 2 piece leathers as these are even more comfy.

They are above your budget but Hideout leathers are excellent. Made on site by the lovely Kate near Saffron Walden.
I have a 2 piece, Jambo has also used them. If you are regulation size you may be able to get off the peg. I am long in leg and large of bust for my midget height so got off the peg slightly tweaked. Jambo is just a freak! They also did made to measure suits for my friends who are 6'5 (him) and 6'1 (her) and they are superb.
I can only comment on the 2 piece but I know they do one piece as well. They always rate highly in the tests run by the magazines, and if you do have an off then Kate can replace just the damaged panel.

Check out the reviews section on here. Clover for me, crash tested!

I want to make quite clear, I've used Hideout, not LPH's specific set of leathers. We're rather different shapes and I suspect the fit would be dubious.

When the lovely Kate of Hideout, who spends all her time making leathers and measuring people states "Jesus that's some inside leg measurement!" I felt fairly justified in my assertions that my frame was a little out of norm.
Use them all the time for several years and a few crashes and they've been fantastic. To pick them up and feel the weight difference compared to a set of cheap leathers shows that there is a difference in construction.
Don't do what I did and insist on breathable material in the arms and crotch, it's warm about 3% of the year and it makes the rest of the 97% colder.

It would be very funny watching you try to fit in my leathers - and I'll have you know I'm a 32" inside leg - which at only 5'2" makes me a freak as well.

You don't say. I've seen stick insects look obese and a bit dumpy standing next to you.

The breathable bits do aid the comfort for me. Maybe the the cold in the crotch doesn't have quite such a devastating effect for the ladies as it does for you.
The soft armour is incredibly comfortable. After my accident I have a lot of scar tissue on my elbow and any hard armour hurts even 3 years later.
You are right about the weight. I took my jacket off in the Lord's Tavern at work and hung it on the old fashion style coat rack. The hook promptly separated from the frame and crashed to the floor.
