Greetings people. Im new here and in the interest of getting to know some of you i thought i'd start a thread about some of the work i've been doing. Look forward to your replys, questions, ideas, advice or warnings!
So here goes,

As spring is approaching thought i'd try an idea i had awhile ago of swapping the stock 650 throttle bodies for the Sv 1000 ones.
I knew this would not be as simple as bolt off bolt on, so while working in the paddock i started asking the supertwin boys about it... The ones that had done the conversion were not giving up any infomation! So i turned my research to the internet and got similar results, this did not put me off as i now knew it could be done.

So after three days, lots of tea, swearing and fuel fumes! I took her out for a test round the block.

All is going better than planed, just need to run some more tests and refine the mixture! :)

Welcome! Perhaps tell us how it was done and what improvements are expected from this mod?

Thanks! Well as for improvements im expecting a nice increase of mid range torque mainly. A few extra top end horses would be nice too! Until i can get her on the dyno im going to try few things to get it running smoother.

If anyones interested in doing this i may be able advise, i might post a full review and dyno charts once i've finalised the manifold design and mixture

also done this with shock pipes though im after a full m4 system to get the best out of them but running 79bhp atm with every thing else engine wise standard just a slip on so well worth it :)

I'm in the process of doing the same thing with Vstrom DL1000 (45mm) throttle bodies. It's been an interesting experiment. They are set up differently than the SV1000 throttle bodies making it a bit complicated. On the other hand, they were easier to fit, I've maintained the stock throttle linkage and the DL1000 airbox (slightly modified). It has also been LBD for me (learn by doing) since everyone is tight lipped about their methods.

Got the bike fired up today for the first time using the DL1000 throttle bodies. I had the power commander leaned way out at 0 and 2% throttle (-60) just to get it to run and idle. More to follow..

Interesting stuff.

Maybe if you could use 650 injectors it might be a better starting point map wise.

Personally I would just get bored out TB's from Zoran and have done with it, bolt on fit.

I have Zs bored TBs now. I'm looking for more top end since this motor will be up on the banks of Daytona in the fall. I've been in contact with Z and we need to do some mods to get the 650 injectors to fit. Unlike the SV1000, the DL1000 uses a different sized injector.
