Having a discussion in work about who we think has been the best motorbike rider in the last decade.

I don't know if I just watch too much bike sports on tv because I don't know if its Toni Cairoli, Toni Bou or Valentino Rossi?

I'm kinda plumping for Toni Cairoli at the moment

What thoughts do you guys have on it? If any!

i think john mcguiness, racing a track is IMO a lot easier than the road race that man tackles, 19 wins so far and will no doubt be hammering for joey dunlops record of 25, love valentino rossi but would also love to see him race mcguiness on the tt course

In terms of pure talent, it's got to be Rossi.

Right you are Geo ;)

We hadn't actually put pure road racing in there, it really is just so hard to put all the different formats of riding into one pot and come out with who the best rider is out of them all.

You've also got Marc Coma if your gonna go really alternative. But he only does one race a year ;)

This has really got me, because Ricky Carmichael could be put in there but he hasn't ridden since 2006/07 (I think) he was outstanding racing in US supercross and MX.

I really do watch far too much bikesports.

Yeah McGuiness has to be up there. Really would of been great to see what Hutchy would of been like if that injury hadn't happened.

Its not just about those who have made it on the big stage. There are plenty of talented riders who have had to give it up due to a lack of funding. Agree about Rossi but he is one of the ferw lucky ones who have made it due to good sponsors around him.

TP needs help, he's great I love what he does but I dunno if he's got more talent than the others. (I've got a great pic of him on desk at work mind you)

But I will say one thing, he's the daftest of the lot of them. Nitro Circus is a great watch!

Yes and no really. He only got the full 5 because most of the serious competition was out. He has/had talent though.

Another for McGuiness. Not because he always wins but look at the time margins he wins by, pos 2 is usually 10+ secs behind him across the line. You could say a lot of it is down to the bike but really, how big a difference is there between top top teams? Michael Dunlop has said that now he's signed to legends for the TT that he's going to be giving John a run for his money as he has the bike. I don't think so, I think he believes that he's better than he actually is. His brothers much better IMO and isn't full of all the self loving "I am the best" bull**** that MD has. I can't wait for this year!

I don't follow track racing it bores me.
