You have the adjacent (6mm) and want to work out the opposite so you have to use tan.

Tan23 = x/6 where x is ??mm

God, it's been a while since I've done these!

tan 23 = o / 6mm.
0.424474816 = o / 6mm
o = 0.424474816 * 6
o = 2.546848897

So 2.5mm, which looks about right against the diagram.

aha. so using a calculator we go:

23, tan, x, 6, = ??

i knew you lot would know... :-)

For the record i did it first but cheated, i drew in on cad then measured it as i couldnt remember the equation lol
