Rideout - 6th April ...

Its gonna be sunny - http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2654817

I've recently ridden some epic roads - To Newtown, Hereford, Aberaeron, Saundersfoot.

The weather is warming up ...

How many more excuses are needed to go for a Rideout? Exactly.

Here's are some great routes - Great Riding Maps (Click Me)

Well I'm always up for a ride but we'll have to see how the weather is the week after. I've called the weather man and he guarantees sunshine on Saturday + there will be some Welshbikers coming along so maybe a group of 6 or 7 :)

Runako, I thought the front end of your bike was in bits. Have you fitted the GSXR front yet?

Dan, you can hook up with us going through Cardiff and out to Brecon (assuming this is the way you're going). We can stop for a cup of tea at Terry's at the top of the Mountain on the way.

Pricey - I still need one or two bits (top yoke) and can't decide how far I want to go with it (front and back GSXR wheels) so I've postponed the work whilst the weather is good.

Usually start off at about 9 or 10, probably 10 with the better light, so we can arrange a suitable meeting place. There are about 6 in the group now including you and I.

Ok, here's the plan. This is the route we'll be taking on Saturday - http://bit.ly/10fhFDI. Its a loop so there's the choice of doing the whole thing or just cut out at whatever point if it pleases you and just head south. Duration should be about 4hrs or so.

DanSP, the starting point is actually Brecon so you could just easily do Cardiff - A470 -A40 loop.

Meeting point I'll be meeting the Welshbikers here http://goo.gl/maps/5Vr9l. We'll fuel up and then head up towards Brecon.

Dan, depending on what time you're coming over we could meet on the way.

Does 10am at the Sainsbury's work for everyone? Gonna be a good one!

Ooh, I'll check with Mrs for a pass out. May not go down well as I'm off to Naples next week with work. I'll let you know how negotiations go.

That's exactly why you need to come out! "I'm not really gonna get a chance to go to Wales when a) the weather is nice and b) I've come back from Naples and got no money left for petrol. So, most beautiful wife, this is my only chance! Love you". There you go, all sorted for you ;)

I'll give it a go, the main problem is she might want to come with me. Which wouldn't be so bad but she has a bridge phobia making getting across the river troublesome ( without a 60 mile detour).

Ah yes, I remember. The blindfold trick worked with BA ;) Either way, hope you can make it. 10am @ the Sainsbury's Pontypridd or let us know where you wanna meet.

FINAL ROLL CALL:

> DanSP, we've revised the Route even more to suit anyone who doesn't want to do the whole thing. You can basically do half and then you're almost near Abergavenny - http://goo.gl/maps/wSJTz

> Meet is 10am at Pontypridd Sainsbury's - http://goo.gl/maps/S52I0

> My number is 07728834669 if anyone wants to get hold of me.

Also, if anyone arrives late and still fancies joining the ride, just pick a spot on the map and take the straightest route there. Send me a text and we'll arrange to meet.

UPCOMING EVENT: 14th April - Welshbikers run to Llangollen. Come part or all of the way to the Legendary Ponderosa Cafe. Stunning scenery, over 50 bikes and riders from North, West and South Wales. Have a coffee or some lunch and enjoy a great day.

Home, safe and sound. Great day, some brilliant roads, some which needed a bit of a clean and one plane scary one.
Cheers guys hope you all got back safely. In the bath now hoping that some parts return to their usual position :-o

Thanks for coming along and glad you enjoyed it. The last bit was supposed to be that epic road we were talking about but your group took the direct route to Aber. So you need to come back some time to do the Ross on Wye rd to Abergavenny. Take it steady.

Works for me. See you on Saturday :)

Apologies again. Realised a bit too late that you weren't behind us and that shouldn't have happened. But glad you enjoyed it as it was a cracking day weather wise. 260 miles in all done today. Everyone's sore and knackered! But totally worth it. Let us know if you want to come for a blast in the future, I'm out most weeks but not always doing that sort of mileage!

Take it steady mate.

No problem. Didn't realise how rusty I was  Think I did just under 200 miles, so slowly getting back up to speed. Will definately be up for another run out. Didn't realise how good those roads are, as only ever done them in a car.

Haha, yeah. 8 of us went to Tintern for a bit of lunch and ice cream (mmmmmm). What a cracking days ride! Unfortunately, gravel caught out one of the boys right at the end coming over the mountains and he ended up in the side of the road. Luckily he bounces well so only damage was to the bike. Bloody gravel. Needless to say, we took it (kinda) easy for the rest of the journey. Still 500 miles done in one weekend, tyres well worn. Now where's my bank manager? Overdraft extension please!

At least he's ok. There is a lot of cr*p on the road this time of year. Roll on summer.
