Just seen this curvy on Fleabay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUZUKI-SV650-/330769302298?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item4d0363031a

Two and a half grand for a curvy???

Now obviously I love a curvy as much as the next person but that's taking the mick.

Somehow I think they may have that bike for a while...

That has been for sale about 2 years now. Its at my local dealers
They sold a K3 for 500 notes less than that late last year

That's bizarre. Surely they know that it's about a grand over priced. You'd think they would drop it to a reasonable level to shift the bike on.

I've seen Curvy's at similar prices on Ebay dealer sites.

You might get some mug who doesn't do their research, or wants peace of mind by buying from a dealer.

Warranty is extra though :p

Its done 13k aswel. If it had done about 100 id perhaps understand, a little bit.

Am i right in thinking curvys were £4200 new? (That figure springs to mind anyway). Thats only £1700 less than its new price, and its 11 years old lol.

Might be there for a few more years me thinks

I can kind of understand dealers doing it with some bikes. Have a look at some of the original shape Ducati Monsters for example. Bikes that cost around £5000 a few years ago (620's, 695's, etc) are still being sold for three and a half grand when in reality they are worth a fair bit less.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2004-DUCATI-Capirex-620-02-Monster-/171008377080?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item27d0e4c0f8

May be a special edition, but it ain't worth 3.5k. Your paying two and a half grand for the bike and a grand for the Ducati name.

Part of the reason I love my SV is the fact that it is a lot of bike for the money. For the money that dealer is asking for the SV I'd expect it it to be gold plated!

Maybe the bike owes them too much and they can't reduce it?

It will owe them even more if they dont sell it.
Often dealers keep really expensive used bikes in the showroom to make new ones look like a bargain, and if they stick there for ages it doesnt matter if new sales keep up.

Classics I can understand a bit of a premium if they are decent.

However not sure the slabbie was ever sold in corona colours. So it's probably a tatty crashed one with a gash spray job.

Mate it is a pup. That picture doesn't do justice how vile it is
Everyone who works for him want it broke for spares they're all sick of moving it between shops and lock-up

Who writ the reveiw on the listing (first link/post)

*A good clean honest bike and one of the most popular first bikes. A good engine which is dead easy to ride if it's not being pushed and great fun when you really start to rev it.*

who really buys a bike to push ? haha

seriously though.. The Sv650 is easy to ride fast.. and the engine's solid and likes being pushed...

well mine does anyway :D because i dont agree with his review im out and wont be buying this bike.

They even have the cheek to charge an extra £89 'documentation' fee on top according to the ad

At least that one has got the full fairing, which to me transforms the look of the bike and would make it much more likely to sell at that price.

Another theory - perhaps these dealers are doing favours for friends who've had Curvys crashed/nicked and are using he ads to try and get a better offer out of their insurers?!

I used rediculously expensive adds (£1600) when agreeing on a price for my written off (drink drivers fault, not mine) cg125. The guy dismissed it saying "dealers put on expensive adds to make other bikeslook better and they often arent priced to sell".

I cracked on though and eventually go £1300 for a bike i payed £1150 for 1 year and 16000 miles or something earlier. It took me all morning though, and i dont know if my examples or not helped aha
