View Full Version : First Sv Ride!
I've just got back home from my first ride on the sv.
I've FINALLY managed to get out on it, I've been waiting long enough...
The first 30 seconds were the most terrifying, but once I got used to the clutch I felt right at home.
My initial impressions were excellent, smooth handling, firm brakes, and the POWER!
I knew it was gonna be fast compared to my cbr 125, but holy *&$%, that first full throttle burst was amazing. The torque is incredible, much stronger than I imagined it would be.
To sum it up briefly, I've never felt more alive...

The first time I took an SV out I fell in love. The torque is awesome and I have become quite lazy with the gearshifts as it will pull from 2000 rpm in 5th without bogging. The IAM rider I was on a test ride with asked if I forgot how to change gear!

As said, the sv is a very lazy bike because of the torque. Enjoy it and go clock up some more miles!

Living in the isle of man aswell. Such an awesome place. Opening the bike up on the mountains is sooo brilliant. I enjoyed it immensely when i went with my dad. And that was at 33bhp

my first sv ride was setting off from billericay (essex) at dusk heading back to cornwall, the m25 was an interesting experiance lol

And the funny thing is, if you ever ride a properly powerful bike, lets say 120bhp + the SV feels very slow!!

Your probably right. But its a first big bike for alot of people, and its a rocket compared to a 125 haha

I remember the first time I rode my SV after just having ridden 80cc 2 stroke and 125cc 4 stroke. Even though it was restricted at 33hp the acceleration blew me away.
I don't plan on getting rid of my SV because I really can't see the need for more power unless I was 2 up with luggage all the time. The SV motor is fantastic, it has more than enough power low down and can still do over 100. For riding within the law it is one of the quicker bikes off the line. And ok on fuel if you don't rag it everywhere:

1st and 2nd gear pulls are immense.
I've been out on the beast twice, and took it to work twice, and I've already had the front end coming up under hard acceleration.
It doesn't half scare the **** out of me though! D:
First gear I'm never too impressed with myself, it's over too soon. Could do with being a bit longer, but I suppose they've made it so it's easy in traffic conditions. Third and fourth gear though at full throttle is immense.

All preferences I know and for ages I had my heart on a pointy but soon as I saw the curvy in red my heart was sold lol.
Let the curvy/pointy war begin ;)
