Time & time again i see the common question asked when asking about parts is what versions are they the same as. I think its about time we had some sort of checklist for people to use and i volunteer. Im going to do it in excel first of all so i am looking for some pointers. Down the left column would be the parts and across the top the versions. Ideas on what parts to list and how i would indicate parts that are common to each version.

Sv only btw! I will start on the most asked things. Eg. Mirrors, levers etc.... It has to start somewhere.

I think one on speedo rotors would be useful to alot of people tbh. Its a common fault as we all know, but do we all know what years will work with our bikes?

I don't know, there were only 4 years so less changed, but we had 2 yellows, 2 blues and 2 reds, 2 different fork lower clamp bolt layouts, 2 different fork caps, I think we had a couple of different wiring looms. The s and naked bikes had a lot more differences than most people realised too :-)

I have some info on bolt sizes which might be useful. I couldn't find any when I needed a single bolt for a part, the odd question on bolts does come up from time to time, might go well with your idea.

Small steps tbh. Crash repair parts first then we can expand.

Haha, ok - what bolts size of bolt is needed if you damage one of your forks? Sure, buy a replacement tube but say the original pinch bolt is bent and unusable? Or lower clamps bolts?
Need a new brake disc as the bolts are seized and discs are warped. What size replacement bolts?
You get the picture. But nevermind, its your idea so good luck with it.

Still a great idea. I bought chewies kits to replace the bolts and i know all the sizes are listed on a a4 sheet. Could actually be a great side project btw.

Ok, 1st draft. The coloured links are just an 'idea' although colour specific isnt really a major concern.
LINK REMOVED: - will reupdate the list to google docs.
Im looking for anything ive missed & also wether ive got the headings easy to read, i thought about doing a top heading of the most common crash related parts.
Good idea :)
I would suggest putting this up as a googledoc or similar with contact details on it for corrections.
My experience from work is when you have xls sheets people keep them, they use old versions and then complain about something you corrected months ago for years to come ;)

Point taken, i will up / reupdate it to google docs tonight. It wasnt intentional owenski but your comment makes me worry about excel files & virus so it's best i make it as safe as poss.
I think i will start off by using a thread to ask about certain parts & gather info from the org on version info. Crash replacement parts being the 1st.

to my knowledge there are only two. 4 pulse and 8 pulse inners. but as far as i know there is only 1 main unit. this has caught a looooot of people out.
