Welcome to the Gm, you can now compete with Mark_h for who can make the most noise :) Keep an eye on the section as rideouts will be posted, followed by a slanging match thread, followed by another post with the attendance thread

Welcome to the forum. Lovely bike! :)
Hello from the other thou rider. Really like the look of that braided hose. May need to get myself one of those. Oh and depending on your bravery levels, I can thoroughly recommend taking off that steering damper. Mine handled like a bad tempered pig with it on, randomly running wide or tipping in too much with no real feedback. Took it off (5 minute job) and it's transformed. Mine failed gradually and took away loads of my confidence as I was basically getting worse and worse. I'm still no good but one less thing to blame.

I am NOT the oldest you tosspot.
So do we have an older massivist? Even I'm not as old as papa cage and I'm ancient.

Hi mark, i would of thought the damper wud of done some good?! But hey if you recommend it and its only a five min job then y not!!! Its on my list today along with a service.... (Making the most of my paternity leave ;-)
Followed a guide yday for cleaning up my front pipe - big difference!!! Looks close to a new stainless one now!!!
Will try n post a pic later of it...
And do u really like the hoses? Theres summit about them i dont really like but the alternative is either standard or samco style.... I dont think im gonna be happy with anything lol

Marks damper moved like it had a ratchet in it when he took it off, very juddery. That's not to say yours wouldn't be fine though.

Only bike I've ridden with a damper is the gixxer. The tiger and SV were damper free. Gixxer is the hardest bike to hustle through the twisties, so I wonder if dampers actually perhaps do more harm than good (until you hit a rut or something. Then perhaps they save your life!)
If you can't get the front wheel up to check it just unbolt one end of the damper and move it. Mine lurched about all over the place. Plenty of how-to's about refreshing the oil in them. I've got some new oil and in fact a whole new (well low mileage one off a GSX-R) damper sitting here ready to go but to be honest I'm perfectly happy without it.
Fallout managed to ride it over some iffy road surfaces at a reasonable pace and didn't end up in a hedge so if a ham-fisted muppet like him can cope should be OK for a normal person.
That said, if you take it off and end up a purplish smear across the first tree you see then I take no responsibility!

Fair enuff!
Well managed to get the service done before the hailstones came down! Didnt manage to look at the damper tho so maybe tomorrow. Might take it off and just see how it feels. If all is good then might just leave it off. Riden loads of bikes without dampers so im sure i'll be ok 'touch wood'

I like the light damper free feel and the **** sliding seat. Anything that makes me feel closer to death without actually resulting in my demise gets my vote!

So when do I drop my bike round for you to give it a clean? As the other GMers will tell you mine's almost as spotless as yours with perhaps a slight dusting of road film on the front downpipe you could take care of for me.

Ill be over in 20 mins :) you have three pipes to do, so will give you a bit longer ;) Did you use the brillo pad and autosol method?
SeanSV1000

I did think about brillo after i did it so might use that next time...
I used very fine wet n dry with some polish to ease it round, then to finish off i used autosol with the wet n dry and then agin on some cloth....
Were some little marks left over but overall i was satisfied (and knackered)
Now go to your bikes and get to work chaps!!

I spray ACF50 on my downpipes. That's my effort to deal with corrosion complete! :D

We don't need to hear about your nether regions mr fallout sir.
I cleaned mine when i bought it off Stenno, planning on cleaning it same time next year too. The bike that is, not the down pipe.
