I tried to change my throttle cable over the weekend but when it came to removing the throttle bodies for access found they weren't the easiest things to dislodge. Not wanting to make what should be an easy job both difficult and expensive by knackering the TB's I decided to leave it and put everything back together.
I've been quoted £45/hour and about 1 1/2's work at the garage which is about right but being a bit of a tight aR@e and the fact that it's really not that difficult I would like to do this myself still.
So, that being the case, I was wondering if there was anybody localish to me (50 mile ish radius say) that knows what they're doing that could talk me through/lend a helping hand in finishing the job?
My current cable still actually works (cable still working but outer part cut through so needs changing really) so I'm happy to make a steady trip around to whoever can help.
Cheers
Mike
it's easy, just give them a good tug. if i remember its front first then back. when putting them back in give the rubbers a little lube with RRG and they should just slide straight back in.
you have to do the gyrating hips when inserting back in though.

Is it just the 2 clips front and back that need loosening? I know it's easy but being so close to actually being able to get back on the bike finished I don't want to balls anything else up lol.
yup just the two jubilee clips once the air box is removed.
also remember that there is a push and a pull cable so before you go putting the TB's back on check you have the cables the right way round.

Yep I think one is coloured silver and the other gold between the locating nuts. Is the red rubber grease essential as that's the only grease I've not got any and can't seem to find it other than online. I do need some though but Halfords don't sell it.

Well that's £70 saved, had another go and managed to get the TB's off, the screw on the front clip was a bit rusty so wasn't playing ball but managed to undo it. Once they were off it was fairly straight forward changing the cables as I thought it would be.

Cheers. I'm hoping once I've sorted these calipers out my tinkering days will be over, at least for a few weeks lol!
i want to know if you done the gyrating hips while inserting the juice squirter back in.
Tinkering days will never be over once you start so ive found. The more you know how to do, the more you do it and check..and sometimes ending up breaking something else in the process!:smt073

Oh I know I'll be at it again soon! And you're right about the possibility of breaking something else, that was my worry doing this job turning an easy ans cheap job into a knightmare!!
Yup, it goes with the territory. I just wonder how often garages break and item and have to replace it and tell you the job is delayed for another reason. or if its something small just bodge it or do nout!
