Ladies and Gents, I am mechanically a novice but tonight whilst my father and I were adjusting the chain tension and giving the bike a general once over we noticed this white residue under the oil cap and in the coolant reservoir. The bike has just shy of 22K on her and is a K5 Pointy... Has anyone encountered this before? I think it's a possible head gasket or condensation?
Cheers, Stuart.
This thread might help. Someone asked the same question the other day.

Cheers buddy! I know this is off topic but how does that scorpion end can sound on the SV? Thinking about investing in one!
Haha it sounds great! Removable baffle only goes in at MOT time so most of the time I hear the full effect. Not stupidly loud like some of the stubby cans though.
Probably wise to diagnose your current problem before shelling out for a new zorst though. Hopefully it won't be an expensive problem but you never know....

Is it the street extreme or one of the factory ones ? And yes I know haha it'll more than likely be next year when I get a new can for her! Cheers I hope it's a simple fix !

Cheers buddy, got the bike sorted today, Mechanic looked at her and said it was just condensation from the short runs i've made even though i have a half hour commute each way to uni! But thanks for the help:)
This is what I hope is causing mine. I would assume it will go away as it warms up?

I would say so although the mechanic said if you are having trouble starting the bike, if its not running right or if its getting high temperature reading get it checked. See i'm commuting for around a half an hour each morning to and from uni and thats still not classified as a long run hence why the condensation is building up :( But as repairs go, riding your bike for longer has to be one of the best ones yet! :)
By the sounds of it a good run for a good 1hr 30+ along some country roads where she will get nice and warmed up should sort it. If not and you are concerned others have mentioned when they do an oil change that condensation will leave with it.

No help I know but I get this on my Golf GTi over the winter months. Nothing to worry about as it's condensation as everyone has suggested.
Had the same problem a couple of years ago with my short commute. Soon went with a couple of good runs.
