I'd looked forward to lugging my camera gear around London for ages but when we were there it was rubbish weather mostly except for late Thursday night, I decided to head off from Old street around 9:30 to Westminster and walk to Tower Bridge...
By the end of it my feet were pretty severely aching, my knees were hurting (they have started doing this more recently like when moving my parents into their new house) and we (my colleague and I) only JUST managed to catch the last train back to our station (with a training course to finish the next day)

Sadly I didn't get creative with the shots, I was trying to fit too much in to too like time. I'm pleased with the results but next time I'm hoping for more time to shoot and less distance to cover. But anyway, here are the shots I DID get:

I'm testing out hosting some of my more casual shots on Picasa as they give a better resolution stored image. The gallery is here: https://picasaweb.google.com/107141438642240412049/LondonTrip?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCJy1xoaxwOKWBQ&feat=directlink

I had less enthusiasm for shots by the end of the walk as I'd over stretched it but I've got the ones I was wanting, next time I can concentrate on some more interesting/unique ones

Thanks Richie, I can't match you for creativity but I'd been wanting to re-take some pictures I'd had from London on my old compact. I wanted to get sunset shots too but it wasn't to be, night shots are harder than they look to get a decent exposure. Big ben still frustrates me, I need to do some merging I think to get the hands visible and clear.

I really liked your shot of Westminster palace. I think its a beautiful building and you really managed to make it stand out with sure clear lines.

Stunning! Really great shots. Was there at the weekend and trying to photo the landmarks in the morning was a nightmare, that damn orange thing that appeared in the sky was always in the wrong spot!

I see London at night often and I still love the views. Good shots!

That'd be The Shard, kinda wanted to go up it to the viewing floors but its £28 and I'm disinclined to acquiesce to their request.

Thanks for all the kind words guys, I'm pleased enough with them but know I should be able to do better. I had a colleague who had sobered up by this point and I didn't want to keep him standing round too long on my account while I faffed about with settings etc.

Glad you all liked them though :-)

Some absolute crackers in there Brett. And I know what you mean about the walk from Westminster to Tower Bridge - it's further than you realise but there are some lovely sights on the way.

Red - I had the morning sun problem when I was taking my panorama shots for the photo comp a month ago. Low hazy sun is not great for exposure settings. Oh well, I have an excuse to go back and try again.

Great photos! Inspired me to go try out a route I had in mind for entertaining any of my friends brave enough to get on the back and go through central London!
