Go on then, who's done it/doing it?

The org will have representation at the Yorkshire event this year, I'll leave them to announce themselves but they're out there.

My wife is doing the Kettering one next month.

Next month! Is she well into her training now then? We've got until September so 4 months to get into shape...and I don't mean round, like I am currently.
I'm treating it as an incentive to train my self fit again but can't help thinking its aimed more for people who already are fit but just want to prove it.

I'm doing the Winchester one in a couple of months.

Glad we've signed up Matt - as you say it's a good incentive to up the training.

Did 3 mud runs last year to build up to a mudder but I've been dying to get a TM under my belt for a couple of years now!!

Oorah!

Surely you'll do some form of training, unless you're already in superman shape.

I did Kettering last year - I definitely wouldn't do it in the winter but a great day in the sunshine.. I was fat and unfit and did a 6mile run a few days before as training. Its about 11 miles? With stops for obstacles and going at a steady pace most should make it without too much issue. The mud mile Is immense! The half pipe at the end is a nightmare though. We ended up skipping it as there was a girl in a neck brace on one half getting treatment and a queue of several hundred people waiting for the other side as people ran and failed to get up.. through the electric eels and off for beers lovely.

Oh and the electric thing where you crawl through whilst they spray water over you will have grown men squealing.. got a vid somewhere and you can hear the jolts and the cries as people suffer...horrid at the time but looking back rather funny :)

In the vaguest terms I'm superman shape.

Two arms two legs...

I'm sure I won't be the one slowing my team down but Apart from a weekly game of five a side football I shan't be doing much.

Wow I play football twice a week and consider myself unfit.
I've started cycling to work 10miles each way 3 days a week.
I'll be going for a run on a weekend and doing weights later on on both the football nights... and I'm still worried.

I did a 10k a few months ago in about 50mins.

It'll be fine.

Not really.

To paraphrase Ivan drago, "if I die I die".

But I suspect I'll get round ok. I'm in a team of 5-6 and I'm damn sure I won't have the hardest time because I'm very light. The obstacles actually make me less concerned, if it was just a 12mile cross country run I'd be thinking about my time but it'll be broken up.

Bloody hell Matt, you'll be a shadow of your former self when I next see you! Let's just hope it's width wise and not height wise, else I won't be able to see you at all...#runs super quickly#

I do credit any man who quotes from Rocky!
Yeah they blab on about it been about completing so times not the most important thing. However if I'm doing it I'm doing it right, I want it to be something I can be proud of.

Maria... The cycle race and mudder are just incentives to get into the shape I wanna be, then when I do I'm gonna go all Liam niesen on ya ass!

I'm in good enough shape that I could run off into the distance in front of one of my team members and get through a lot of the obstacles better than another but It's a team effort and I shall be helping them along.

I do need to practice my monkey bar tequnique though incase they have them, I've never been happy with it.

The first year I started running 10ks I trained like mad but this winters bad weather has made me slack. If it all falls apart I shall train like buggery for a year and have another crack.

Well, I did it last weekend.

It is SOO much fun.

Takes a LOT out of you but we got it completed in 3 hours and I wasn't the one dictating the teams pace so pretty happy with that.

The 12 miles was difficult but TBH the obstacles themselves were pretty easy (or at least I found them pretty easy).

Probably going to sign up for the welsh one in September I think I've found my sport at last.

Oh, the monkey bars, slippy as hell. DON'T rush onto them with someone in front of you because if they're slow you'll be hanging around waiting for them to fall off.

I feel like I'm talking to myself but I never let that stop me.

I know you guys are doing one next weekend and I've just done my second. Got to admit Winchester was an easy one. The one in Wales was bloody murder.

Good luck to everyone that's doing the Yorkshire one.

I think I'd like to build to that. Had a few too many injuries so far this year which has made any sort of training hard.

Look up the "torture chamber" on youtube.
