I know there are quite a few people out there using GoPro cameras or similar. Ive just got some footage from a trackday and while the quality of it is pretty damn good, once its edited etc and ready to put on the web, it looks crap. Im using an old copy of Roxio Media Creator 10 at the moment to do all the editing, overlaying and converting but it doesnt even do 16:9 format and has a limited number of options for exporting finished projects.

So, my question is, what are you guys using to do your video editing and are there any good free ones out there? Im on PC too, so no MAC only options, sorry.

Thanks guys.

Cheap (as in free) and easy but massively buggy is Windows Movie Maker. Its not reliable but when it works well its great and allows uploading straight to Youtube in HD. Tbh I think its the large file size of the HD that causes it to crash as it seems to be ok at doing lower resolution stuff (720p<).

Yeah I used the Windows Movie Maker on windows 7. Pretty good although does loose some quality on hosting to youtube, to be expected I guess.

The editor that came with my GoPro wouldn't work on XP, haven't tried it on 7 yet.

I started off on WMM and then bought a cheap copy of Sony Vegas which is pretty good.

I did consider actually spending my Great British Pounds to get this, but some of the reviews note problems with rendering on laptops running W7. Although it does say this may not be an issue for everyone. Have you had any problems at all Stenno? Any issues with the HD large file rendering?

Hey. I'm running it on windows Vista and it crashes now and then but I think it's due to my laptop being 4-5 years old with limited space left.
Not had any problems rendering albeit my longest blogs have probably only be 8mins or so.
I'd definitely recommend it.

A similar spec rival to Vegas is Cyberlink PowerDirector 10. As with Vegas it occasionally crashes during editing, but overall its good and has never crashed during rendering. Just save often, as with any project thats important to you. Works well on my old Win7 pc. Would recommend it.
