Since getting my first pay the first thing i want to buy is a camera to mount to my bike and on my car to record my journeys.

I'm pretty slow driver but constantly being put at risk by other drivers and just want to cover myself in case of accident.

Ideally the camera should record up to a point where it might be smashed and the video can be recovered. A one simple function of record journeys a few hours long. Good battery life.

This is a camera to use my daily commute. Could anyone with experience suggest me possible camera's where to buy, price, value for money. and how easy they are to use. Mounting is important must have mounts for car available and must primarily be mountable on the bike/helmit. Never riden with a camera on helmet and considering i do 70mph in all weathers is mounting on the bike more sensible?

Can't help with choices but if you get the right camera you can easily ride at 70 without it being a hindrance. Helps if you have a good screen but something like the Drift HD or Contourcan mount to fit the profile of a helmet better than others. However, Countours are expensive. But the principle still stands.

go pro hero3 black is arguably the best quality one, but they make you look like a telly tubby if you hekmet mount them , ive just got a drift HD Ghost, awesome cam, and better fit to the helmet, expensive mind,

the ghost is waterproof as it comes, would be fine in rain, can get mounts for car and bike, the older drift HD can be got quite cheap on ebay 2nd hand

on your helmet with any cam your going to get a lot of noise unless you use an external mic, less so behind a screen, but still a surprising amount

but if its primarily in case of an accident the noise wont be an issue

There are various phone apps available. They constantly record then you select which footage you keep.

Not much use for the bike tho
