Gobsmacked. Talk about a good example of target fixation. The youtube user here basically spends his whole life filming bikers crashing on this bend.

Prime example of what not to do there

I also love the fact the EMT books the guys head like he might have hurt his neck, aside the fact he has since walked from where he got hit...

Oh man that was pretty awful, as a cyclist it rather scares me. Awful riding and I hope he gets prosecuted...

I know of the youtube user, watched a few of the vids and the standard of riding in them is generally horrific!

In response to the welsh blokes reply :) That happened to me. They insisted I get on a spinal board despite me walking 30m up the road and telling them I had no pain.

Covering their backs I guess.

"Welsh bloke"; I've been called worse...

I know what you mean, for my accident I had walked across the road and sat down before they arrived and they told the woman on the phone to them that I couldn't remove my helmet. They arrived as asked "does your neck hurt?" I said "no," so they then explained I could remove my helmet...

Yeah, saw this yesterday. Mullholland in Cali. Craziness.

To be fair, it would be a great place to do as there are some very skilled riders who use the road and they are great to watch, but, then you get to see loads of accidents, all of which are pretty low speed, but, in my opinion, quite funny to watch.

To that end, if I crashed like some do on the corner, I would expect to be laughed at

I'm still trying to figure out how the hell he didn't see them in time. And when he does, rather than move away from them he rides INTO them. What an idiot.

I would guess worrying about running wide, then he starts looking at the cyclists rather than the gap.

That was the point raised by the OP

He does see them and that is what causes the issue.

It is a common problem with learning or poor riders, it's called "target fixation"

He sees the bikers, thinks "I don't want to hit them," but, because he keeps looking at them he rides in to them. If he had looked away the bike would have gone where he was looking (more or less)

It is a problem that has befallen a fair number of experienced riders too.

It can catch anyone out when they get task loaded or when they start to panic. And everyone does have a point when they start to panic.

The only mantra worth repeating... look at the gap

SV650N with gsxr front forks. Tidy looking bike in fairness.

When I was learning my instructor pretty much drummed into me "look where you want to go and the bike will follow".

I guess this is an example of "don't look where you don't want to go", demonstrated rather painfully.

Maybe we've got it all wrong, maybe he just really hates cyclists.

I'm having to watch the clip on my phone as YT is blocked at work but something seems to happen at the 2 second mark that stands the bike up, causing the guy to run wide. Unfortunately it's just prior to the start of the slow-mo, I'm not sure if he's got his foot down and his toe touches the road surface, the bike stands up and then he clocks that he's heading into the cyclists and fixates, or the tiny jolt of his bike is him reacting to seeing the cyclists and then fixating on them.

Looks ouchie either way. I'm glad no-one involved was seriously injured!

Mauler, IMO thats when he see's the cyclists are potentially on his exit line.
He then begins braking to scrub speed but as braking stands the bike up and straightens out your cornering he doesn't compensate for it and as a result heads even more directly towards them then he already was.
He then brakes harder ahead of impact. then BOOOOOMMM CRASH SMASH ARRHGHGHGGHGH etc etc.

Cyclists are not known to be wide objects lol, there seems plenty of space and chance for him to sort his **** out and pass them legitimately.

Seems to be an awful lot of lowside videos on his channel of the same corner, but for something car related, check out this idiot #unpopular

Aye, possibly! I like to give him the benefit of the doubt though lol

The vid description says his toe makes contact with the road which unsettles him. Toes on the pegs and tucked in people!
